I was wondering if you can use paraffin or recycled pillar candles for jar candles? I was given about 9 boxes of paraffin this last weekend and have been saving a few jars to make candles. I also have 3 pillar candles I have picked up at garage sales thinking I could melt them down and reuse the wax. Would this work? I already have fragrance oils from other projects. Just no coloring would melted crayons work?

I have made hundreds of candles from plain old parafin with crayons for color and they all turned out great. Old candles can be melted and reused too. Have fun.

I have used old paraffin, old candles of many shapes and sizes and crayons to make candles in jars. I was able to layer the colors. In some I would put chunky wax on the top just as it was getting solid to make it more visually interesting. I used old jars, different shapes and sizes of glass containers. It was lots of fun. I was making them to go into fundraising baskets for a couple of charity auctions. Have fun!

Do what you love, love what you do.
