Had my scheduled stress test early this morning and within 3-1/2 minutes my blood pressure was 220/115-so they stopped the test because my pressure wasn't going back to normal very quickly-Everything else was fine except for the monstrous high BP!

The Dr. at the Hospital who ran the test, suggested low dose aspirin daily and to get on BP medications pronto-which I have been trying to avoid for about 2-years now. I will be at my regular Dr's office next week to go over the results of both the stress test and the gall bladder ultrasound-

Ain't getting old grand--

Any one else out there on BP meds?

That's scary, Melody! My son is on a BP med for a couple of reasons. His bp is a little high, but mostly he takes the med due to a heart defect he's had since birth. My guy is only 11 and so far the med seems to be doing what the doctor was hoping for. He goes back later this month for another check up. My mom also takes a BP med. Her's is just high blood pressure. Neither one of them have had any side effects or complications. Hope the doc can get your bp under control.

Sending lots of hugs and prayers~ Melanie

aww, Melody. Sorry to hear of the BP problems. I have them, but mine are stress induced so I havent gotten to the med stage yet. Will be praying that you can find something helpful that works and that you are comfortable with.

I've been on meds for almost 20 years and it's probably saved my life many times over. Don't be afraid of meds, and be willing to try different ones until you get on the right dosage. It will all depend on what the Dr. decides is the best course. Good luck and prayers to you.

Hey Melody . . . sorry to hear your news, but soooooooo glad it was detected in your test and treatment is in the works.
I hope that you and your dr. can find just the right "recipe" for treating it . . . I know that stress can be a factor for some folks.
You take care of you, ya' hear!!!
I'm pulling for ya!!

Sorry Melody about your stress test. I am avoiding that issue also. You said it right, "Getting old ain't for sissies." I've completed eight rounds of chemo for lymphoma and my doctor is saying "cure" not remission. I am hanging on his every word. Will find out in about three weeks what is going on with the lymph nodes. There is only one they are concerned about.

My dear sister is on BP medication. My feeling for her is stress and lots of it! It's almost as if it comes and goes with the stock market!

Here's hoping and praying that your doctor will help ease your problem.

My Dad is on BP meds & has been for about 3 years now-we found out by accident when I forced him to see a dr for something totally non related to high BP tho he was showing signs of it. Only thing he hates about the meds is they leave him feeling lethargic. (a listed side effect)
