We have been invaded by tiny ants. Anybody know how to get rid of them safely? I am close to getting an evil spray but don't want to put it in my kitchen.

I have used sugar mixed with borax. They are what we call sugar ants so they will take this back to their nest and they go away. Works like a charm. You can either sprinkle or put in a small flat container and they will get at it. Works for the big black carpenter ants as well.Good luck.
Give thanks to yourself everyday for all the wonderful things you do! |

Get out the mighty VINEGAR to the rescue! Wash down your counter tops, floors, cupboards, sink and wherever else you've seen them. They fiercely dislike vinegar. :) |

Find out what kind of ants they are. Around thanksgiving time we get tiny ants and the university found out they were cement ants. Their habitat had been ruined when we dug up the yard for a large koi pond. So they invaded the house. The U told us what would kill them and it does. It is pet safe and I will have to look up what it is made of. Bonnie

I have used the sugar and borax mixture. This has worked well. While using the mixture I have used the vinegar to wash everyting down. So far so good.
Now I get me up to work, I pray the Lord I may not shirk. If I should die before tonight, I pray the Lord my work's all right. Anon. |

We use plain old cornmeal. They eat it and because they can't digest it, they die. :P I have lots of little people at my house so I had to be sure it was something completely safe for them. Good luck! We have those pesky ants here terribly this summer. Hugs Jessie

We had ants last summer in this house, and I never really got rid of them using ant traps. This summer, as soon as I saw a few, I completely cleaned cupboards, floor, etc, and then sprayed everything with a layer of vinegar and let it dry. No more ants! I mean not even one!

I am going to remember these helpful hints. I have seen less of them this week. I had a kitchen counter spray that had oil of grapefruit and bergamot. It smells great to me but does not make the ants happy. I sprayed their trail and they have gone underground I guess.

Just noticed a few tiny ants in the kitchen. I'm trying some of these natural suggestions and will report back. Dianne

Terro Ant traps work wonders, and you can check out their website if you are concerned about toxicity, etc. They are the only traps that have worked for us.

I tried the vinegar, but the ants crawled right through it or came back when it dried. So then I tried the cornmeal. Haven't seen one yet! Dianne

I must try the cornmeal. I only see one or two these days making sure I don't leave anything out that would draw them.
