Asiyah and Candy Angelyn and Kayla Joanna and Harriet Betty Jo and Marsha Toni and Carole Linda and Angie Contact your partner and exchange addresses. Deadline is Aug. 30th Have fun and post here when you've sent your package and received it.
This is a swap for one trivet and four coasters with partners. They are very easy to make. I have a pattern and I'll post a picture of one I did so you get the idea. Sign-up ends July 15 and due on Aug. 30th! And, for any who want to add a placemat in place of the trivet that will be okay.
Supplies: 5 different cotton fabrics that in cool and warm colors. Print and solids pinking sheers floss needle cotton batting backing material
Cut five circles, starting with the largest working to smallest size. I used a paper plate for the large size and traced it onto freezer paper. Then I used a smaller plate and worked my way down to using lids of different sizes. You want to have a 1 1/2 space between the large and medium size. And a 2 inch space between the medium and two smaller sizes. And finally a 1 1/2 inch space between the two small sizes. 2. Stack the circle face up. Largest to smallest and pin them together. 3. Make a backing by cutting out a cirlce of white fabric that's a little smaller than the largest circle. 4. Starting at the center. Stitch around the edge of each colored circle through all the layers. 5. To make the insulating material, cut a circle of terry cloth that's little smaller than te backing. Center the terry cloth underneath the bottom circle stacked in step 3, and place the backing beneath the terry cloth and stack circles. 6.You can use a running stitch with embroidery floss in a contrasting color or make tiny stitches in the same color as the fabric.

I'm in too. Does the shape have to be a circle? I have a super cool shape in mind that I want to use...

Count me in:) This is my first swap so how does it work exactly? Where do I send it when it is done? Just to make sure I understand the process it is stacked fabric with no batting, then you hand stitch them together with a soft backing like the terry cloth. I think I have it but I just wanted to be sure I was doing it right. Angelyn

Marsha, this is great! You really sparked lots of interest and this is a cool project and a great way to use up all those pieces of fabric that seem to pile up. I think I'm going to show the ladies at the women's shelter how to make these next time I teach a class there. I am always looking for ideas and this should not be too difficult for them to do.
