I have never raised chickens personally, so my mistake is a rather silly one. My whole family is gigglin at me, so I thought I'd give you all a giggle.
I went down with my DH to feed our chicks, they are about 12-15 weeks, so pretty good sized. I didn't even think about it, but I was in flip flops. Ones with sparkels on them.
They were irresistable to the chicks!
I was in the middle of the room, surrounded by pecking, hopping chicks. They were attacking my feet!
Their little beaks and feet tickled so bad I could only stand there laughin, doubled over, tryin to shoo them away!
My DH rescued me by throwin scratch around to draw them off me and I had to run out before they found me agian!
I will never feed in flip flops agian!

I have had them peck my fingers because of my rings catching the sun.
