Antoinette the block is not that bad. I will start looking for a simpler one for you. My question to everyone was the 10" size I think all that I have seen are larger. Don't write your self off on this block yet.... Let's see what we come up with:) We may have to do a larger block with smaller groups, say 6 in a group? Keep brain storming, Barbara P.S. I love the batik idea. Oh I need to sew my outside boarder on the red and white. I will try to get that done this week and post a picture:)

I'll look in my pattern books and see if I can't find a simpler feathered star. Maybe we should do a 12 incher instead?

Barbara,

What about a bearpaw "star" block? This would allow swappers
who haven't done feathered blocks to get a little "feathering" under thier belt. I think it could look cool in batik colors. I have the Electric Quilt software and could put together a pattern and instructions for everyone if you like. What do you think?

I'd love to do a bear paw block. I must admit that I have never been particularly drawn to batiks though. Would it be possible to narrow down a color range though? Or a "theme" that would allow us a little freedom on how we interpert the theme? Maybe "fall" colors or an idea like fall trees or Christmas memories and whatever that envokes for us individually?

Oh I love the bear paw idea. We could do fall batiks. I know that there are many golds, browns, greens, reds, and grays in batiks. Heather see what size you can come up with..... Barbara

I am liking the bear paw idea as well, and I love batiks!! I think a feathered star might be too challenging for me, I am still working on getting my points all perfectly aligned and all, but the bear paw is a bit simpler and might be a good progression from what I have done recently.

So do we want to do a single bear paw or four bear paws made into a star pattern? I like the fall colors idea! I'll get working on the pattern...

I love doing the blocks and exchanging but don't think I can do this one. Never very good at the pointed ones. I will see what you come up with before deciding. I do love the batiks and such a wide range of colors and patterns. I would like to see a bigger block, like the big ones.
