We are moving and I'd like to try to take some things with me--I know it's not a good time of the year for transplanting, but do I have any hope at all to try to move some favorites, such as rhubarb, currants, blueberries, strawberries, and such?
I would give it a try. I would just make sure the pots are big enough that they won't be disturbed for a while and let them set their roots again before you put them in the ground at your new place. Strawberries do great in containers. Good luck.

I have moved all of these things at the wrong time of year & they have survived. The trick is to take plenty of dirt around the roots so you don't disturb them too much. Keep them watered but not too much during transit & plant asap when you get there! Good luck.

the girls are right. may i also suggest that you buy a bottle of vitamin b in your garden center. you dilute with water and feed it to the plants after you pot them. when ever they are stressed. like a moving van. it truly helps a lot. we have used our backhoe on our kids land. it was dec. we are zone 3. ground froze. they were losing the home. we scraped up every plant that would let go. moved them and gave them vit. b they live today. just a thought. sherrye
