This afternoon my husband picked the two okra's. The okra plants are full of little bitty okras. I am all excited that the okra plants are doing and producing so well. Last year the plants did not do good.

You must have gotten a head start on us East Texans. My okra has not even started blooming yet. We have been having some freaky weather here.

It's been so cold here I haven't even put mine out yet. I'm hoping to next week. Congrats! It'll be my first time with okra.

Victoria: My hubby started the seeds very early. The okra plants are really full. By the end of the week, I should have a nice bunch of okra.

I didnt plant okra this year, i did plant eggplant tho...lol

Wow wish my okra were growing and producing they are only about 2-4" tall right now, but like Victoria said, the weather has been crazy here. I was afraid to plant to early after the late march early april freeze that we had. Oh well maybe we will have a long summer growing season and can get in the usual amount of harvest, otherwise it will be a slim winter.

We planted ours last week and most of it washed away during a deluge a few nighs ago.
This stuff is so easy to grow and maintain, so it should be no time before more grows and takes off.
We should be getting ours middle of July |

Two okras Kris, but now we have a bag full ready to cook down to freeze. Are you growing okra?

Hey Marly. I did plant 7 rows about 100' long but most did not come up. So Thursday when I was out there tilling I tilled up 4 rows and planted Silver Queen corn there. I found the bag of okra seeds and will just til the other 3 rows and replant the okra. It just hardly came up. I did plant when it was still kind of cool. It's way hotter now so it should do better.
I also had a package of heirloom okra that I planted in the other garden and it's all coming up good. I got a few packs of heirloom from Dawn but only a few came up. It could have been too cold for them also. But that;s ok because I HATE picking okra.
That's a pretty good bunch from just 2 plants. And so early too. I hope you enjoy it. How do you cook yours. I only like it fried. Or in soup.

| Do you soak your seeds in water the night before you plant? A neighbor taight me this and they germinate so much better |

No, my husband puts the seeds in little cups and then in the hot house. When they get tall enough, he transplants them into the raised garden beds.
Today we picked about eight okras.
