I was just thinking how perfect it was that the MJF magazine had the directions for a straw hat, that was one thing that so impressed me was that Ma made their hats. What timing!!

Oh Boy!!! I'm excited to get started. Since I'm new at this kind of group....do we give our list to the group and then send pictures of finished products or just send pictures as we finish things? I have made myself a list of projects already. How long does it take to get your subcription magazine? I signed in April 22, and don't want to miss an issue. I see the new ones are in the stores.

Great ideas for chapter 13!

Carmen....I'm not sure how long it takes to get your magazine. And you can do this anyway you want....let us know what you plan to do, or just report in when you finish a project.

A bit confused :)

Amy, I understand the projects for each chapter, but are we reading and discussing each one too? Is there a reading schedule so we can be going along together? Just wondering :)

PS I'm with Mel, we can learn re-loading ;) (just kidding)

I really don't know which one to do first. It's either going to be the corncob doll or the rag doll. Let you know when I get started on one of the two. This is so much fun. I want to keep the books and the projects I do together and have them for my great-grandchildren some day!

Found this really great site to make the corncob doll:

http://thefruitofherhandstudio.blogspot.com/2008/03/early-american-corncob-doll-tutorial.html

I have a bag of corn cobs that I feed the squirrels that are already dried out. I am so excited!
Amy~~Thank you for all of your hard work! Please know that I am enjoying this so very much! :)

I have done a clove apple and orange. They can be messy as you do it, so have a cloth around. But ladies, your home will smell amazing! They are wonderful to have some in a bowl on the table. Gets you in the mood for fall and holidays! Blessings, Linda

Hello Everyone,
Well after having a bit of fabric call to me on my trip to Hobby Lobby today, I've decided to make an apron for my first project, as well as the clove apple as a second project. I'll be sure to take photos and send them when I'm finished. By the way, for those of you who are Sisterhood members trying to earn badges - a lot of our projects are going to qualify (an added bonus!). Talk to everyone soon! Happy crafting!
All the best,
Tina

I have started on an apron today too since I already have the fabric. The clove apple will be next since I didn't have either apples or cloves and didn't feel like making the 20 mile drive to town.

Amy - that's funny! Brings it all into perspective, though, doesn't it. The Ingalls Family was what - 7 miles from town and it was an all day adventure! I did finish my apron today! I had a beautiful yellow fabric with a flower pattern and then I used a piece for the pockets along the bottom with flowers and the words, "The Lord reigns; let the earth rejoice". Don't know that I'll be gathering any hickory chips in those pockets, but I think it will be perfect for clothespins.

Okay girls, I finished my apron and have attached a photo. It is a half-apron, but this is a big accomplishment for me since I have never sewed anything at all like this before. I even had to make it by hand because I don't know how to use a sewing machine (but that makes it more authentic to the book anyhow!):-)

I am also using this apron to earn my beginner badge in Aprons for the MJF Sisterhood! Up next is the clove apple! Have a great day everyone!
All the best,
Tina

Tina your apron is adorable! What a lot of work to do it by hand. I love hand sewing, you did a wonderful job. Keep up your sewing.I have an extra sewing machine that is really in my way. Wish you lived closer, you could have it.
