I am a Certified Nursing Assistant and am on my feet all day. The best shoes I have found are Sketchers (no lace up) Mules. They are sooo comfortable

My Mom is a nurse, and she loves the Dansko clogs. They're a little on the pricey side, but they are definitley worth it! God's Blessings, Megan aka Loretta Rae

I am on my feet, literally running about half the time, all day every day and I have to say either Sanita's or Keens are fabulous. Sierra trading Post is a great place to get good deals on all of the brands everybody mentioned too - I love it! Amy Grace

I like the Sketchers shoes too. I also find that if my feet are feeling really sore at the end of the day you might want to go up half a size because as your feet swell, the shoes start to pinch. It seems obvious now but it took me a long time of buying my own shoes to figure that one out. Also make sure your socks are nice and snug. That helps support your feet and keep the fluid from pooling (swelling).

I've tried on the Danskos, and I just loved the way they felt. I didn't buy any at the time, but if you can go try some on to find out what size you need, you can find some of them on Ebay. I've found them for a LOT cheaper on there, though I have yet to buy any. It's definitely in my near future, though!

You can get Birkenstocks with a soft footbed. They cost a bit more but sooo worth the extra cost. Take something that is already ultra comfey and add the cush.
Those are my sensible shoes (sandals).
Have worn Dansco and Clarks for years too. Again, pricey, but ultra good to your feet.
Bought a pair of Clark's sandals the other day and could have worn them out of the store right there. Brand new, and no break-in time needed at all!
Zappo's has fair prices so for these high end shoes, I start here first |

I recently discovered a brand of shoes from Denmark, Sanita. They are amazingly comfortable, cloglike with rubber soles. I have high arches and heel spurs and have broken my toes many times (the luck of the barefoot) and these shoes feel like they were made for me. They are expensive, but they are very, very comfortable and my feet never hurt anymore when I've been stomping around for hours. Bjorn also makes very comfortable and good looking shoes....

ditto to what Karin said.
Guess the addage you get what you pay for applies-- especially when it comes to shoes and moreso for folks who have to stand a lot.
I have seen the Sanitas. They are also really nice! |
