Anyone interested? It's a simple and sturdy dolly (could have a print fabric with a theme that makes us frustrated)....we can throw or smack around this doll...it's for therapy...so to speak...lol
I got a small one for my birthday....I wasn't happy about turning another decade older....60! :-( LOL gotta laugh so this type of doll is silly looking too. LOL
What you need: Scraps of Material Stuffing--polyester or cotton Old buttons for eyes and belly button Yarn for hair Paper to make a pattern
This is quoted from a maker-- "Make a pattern by folding the paper in half and cutting out a shape of somewhat like a ginger bread man. I copied the shape from a small cookie cutter that I had. It was easier to draw the shape first and then cut it out. I found a nice fat shape looks better than a thin one.
After you have your pattern, use it to cut out two identical shapes. If you like, use pinking shears to make a ragged edge. On one side, sew on buttons for eyes and belly button. Using some yarn, attach the hair at the top. I added a mouth to mine by using a cross-stitch pattern that my sewing machine does.
Now, put wrong sides together and stitch around the edge, leaving an opening to add the stuffing. Add stuffing,(don't over stuff it)and finish sewing up the opening.
Write the following poem on a piece of paper and attach it around his neck: "
Whenever things don't go so well... And you want to hit the wall and yell... Here's a little dammit doll That you can't do without. Just grasp it firmly by the legs And find a place to slam it And as you whack the stuffing out Yell, "DAMMIT! DAMMIT! DAMMIT!"

LOL!!! Thanks for the first real laugh of the day, Linda. I'm in - (since I work in a church office and if whoever my partners ends up being doesn't mind) - I should probably get a "darnit" doll, even though I know what I'll probably be thinking when I whack it. Blessings, staci FG# 973 :o )

Oh I love it Linda! I think I may just have to sew up one or two of those this weekend.
I would love to be in your swap as well!

Sounds cute!!! I'm going to give it to my son, who has some anger when he drives. (it really is bad where he is) but as a Mom, I'll have to ask for a "dang-it" doll....Smiles, Beth

cool! Since I'm not great at hosting swaps these days (health issues), would you gals help keep track of us and how we are doing?? Help me with the hostess part. I'd suggest having a short sign-up deadline and keep the list of swappers small...much easier on the host. With this type of thing it's usually a small list anyway.
Post here the things you get frustrated with that would make a fun print or theme.
I don't need a theme, but I do have some fabric with needles and thread print!!....lol that would work! I like denim and will probably make one out of faded denim. Staci! when people ask you what it is you can say "it's my DENIM doll" LOL if you like that then I'll be your partner... Christina you can partner up with the next person who signs up....this way we get started. ok?

Anyone ever hear the song that goes:
dang me dang me, they're gonna take a rope and hang me lalalala
Beth you are partner with Christina...assuming ya'll are joining the swap. Be sure to post pics!! There are fabrics with cars out there....good idea for a man! If it ugly and rough enough then a man or boy can't consider it girly!

Linda, that sounds like a great way to do it. Each person that signs up will be matched with the next. Whatever I can do to help, let me know. And I love faded denim so, that sounds good to me! I have several floral prints, and some striped, not much with any kind of theme. Do you have a color preference, Linda?...

Hi there Beth! No, I don't have a preference. You can surprise me! :) I won't be able to get mine mailed to you until next week. Is that okay? We have our farmgirl gathering at my house this week. so I am super busy planning that and getting the chicken coop ready for its final inspection by our city.

Hi. ladies, I am just stepping into your thread here to ask if any of you would make one of these or some of these for sale. Just about the time this subject came up one of my massage clients showed me hers and asked if I knew of someone who could make her some. She gives them to people who are going through hard times. Her source is no longer available. If you could email me I would send it it on to her. And if you could email a picture that would be good too. LaVonna

After two years I still can't seem to get my photos to post on these forums! So instead I posted a picture of my new doll over on my blog. You can all feel free to take a looksie over there if you would like.
Thanks again Beth!
