I was wondering if there are any Farmgirls willing to host a night's sleep-over for our traveling sisters? Nothing fancy...just a place to sleep and maybe a quick shower.

I for one would be interested in hosting accordingly to my schedule.

I wasn't necessarily talking about me. I was talking in general for any traveling sisters of ours. I was thinking about the economy and I thought that it would be a nice gesture to offer our hospitality and homes to our MJF sisters as a "home away from home".

Background info: My daughter spent almost 6 months abroad studying. In between school she would travel and stay at hostels. I wanted to see what one of these hostels were like so she and I went to Chicago and stayed in a hostel right downtown. It was low cost and we met a lot of people...but it was missing that "down-home/family feeling" that I was looking for. That is how I came up with this suggestion.

sounds like a great idea to me! We LOVE B&Bs, but they can get expensive. Please keep us posted!
Thanks, Ruth

My home is always open to traveling farmgirls. I only have one guest room though with a full sized bed, so if there is more than one they will have to share the bed/room or one would have to sleep in the living room on an air mattress (I have a nice one though).
The other thing is, I do have three little boys, so anyone who doesn't like spunky little kiddos, full of imagination, won't want to stay here LOL!
My home truly is a paradise though. I have some beautiful (even though a bit overgrown and unkept) gardens and a gorgeous old house and it's a nice place to stay, I think. So, if anyone is ever in Southern, MI, please do stop by and stay!

I would be willing to offer a bed to a few farm girls. My "guest room" is in the "play room". A hide a bed. But I live on a farm in Oregon if anyone is traveling this way. I can't offer entertainment, but a bed and a shower I can do.

I will be hosting my first over-night stop-over on June 9. I will be hosting Diane (Fiddlehead Farm) for the night and in the morning we are going up to Pepin, Wi, together to meet the other ladies on the Laura Ingalls Wilder Tour. A little nervous but a whole lot more excited!

Sometime in the future I would love to do this. I have no children and my mom lives with me. But nobody comes to visit. I would really like to be able to have "company" come. My life is rather complicated right now but I expect that will settle down in time. I pray for that. When I am settled I hope this is an option.

CeeJay, We were in your part of the world about 4 years ago. When we finally reached the 4 corners, they were closed. We arrived about 2 minutes too late! Oh well, guess we will have to come back another time. My husband LOVED it out there. I loved it too, but I like GREEN too much to live there LOL! It was Spring when we were there and the wild flowers were beautiful. Went to Best Friends animal sanctuary while in Kanab, UT
Oh, I sent cards on Saturday!
Hugs, Ruth

I don't have a guest bedroom (or even a pull-out on the sofa. Woe!), but there are some fantastic farmers' markets and friendly faces here, and would simply love playing hostess to farmgal sisters! I'm in the Detroit area if ya'll are ever in the neighborhood.....

If they come through OK I'd be happy to host a night's sleep-over.

We used to have people do this all the time growing up - my dad was a preacher and USED to the people visiting the church would stay with some of the church's families. . . I loved it.

Ruth . . . did you not go into our mountains??? What time of the year were you here? I ask because the Colorado part of the Four Corners IS GREEN!!! Our mountains ARE GREEN!!!! It doesn't take long to get into the arid part of the Four Corners in Utah, New Mexico and Arizona, however. Unfortunately the Four Corners Monument is a joke in that is it too expensive and monopolized.

Julie, are you nervous about me coming to your house? No need to be, I am just a simple farmgirl. I am really excited about the trip!

Hi CJ, we were in the dessert four corners - owned by the Native Americans - I think! BUT, our kids are moving to Colorado, this summer. Brian is in the Army and they are going to be at Ft Carson. So we will be making a trip out west, maybe in October. When are the aspens pretty? Looking forward to seeing another part of our beautiful country! We have done the whole east coast. I am from Scituate, MA on the south shore, just south of Boston, but another world! We are planning a trip there in June if all goes as planned.
Will let you know when we are heading that way.
Hugs, Ruth

Just a bit Diane. Maybe because I have been living alone for so many years. But I am more excited about the trip. I can't wait. We are going to have so much fun...
