Melody, I was laid off for a year before succumbing to Social Security. I know the feeling of desperation of not having an income. I am so pleased to hear that you are fully (though part-time) employed. Good for you!

I just wanted to cry when she reached over her desk to shake my hand...that's me in a nutshell---My "new" boss gave me a big old hug before I left her office.
I reached a point where I actually said to my husband "I am not going to look for a job any longer, my job will have to find me." You are right about the feeling of desperation. I am no spring chicken and the thought of being the new girl once again well... I feel very lucky. Michigan has been hit pretty hard as well as most of the country.
I am sorry to hear that you were laid off. There are so many stories out there just like ours Betty! My dear aunt ended up retiring early or risk being fired at will which is legal in Michigan. She chose retirement and now she is also new to social security. She worked for her company a very long time. It is sad that it came down to that. Thank you Betty!
Thank you ladies for all the nice thoughts and comments---My cup runneth over!
