Congratulations to the couple! Best wishes to you all. Prayers for sanity are the way to go and are on the way. Its tough to remember that its her special day but that funds may not be unlimited and to balance the two.

We are in wedding mode here too, but our oldest daughter and her guy got engaged over a year ago on New Years Eve and have the wedding planned for June 12th. DD is 29 years old and has been a bridesmaid many times, now I think she's planning on using every "great" idea she's seen in all those weddings!vMaybe that's part of the reason for the long lead time. But anyway she is doing most of the planning and her future MIL lives a few miles away and loves being involved, sometimes I almost feel unneeded, except for the checkbook. She's paying for a lot on her own so that sure helps.
DH and I planned and got our wedding going in about 2 months. It may be better that way than having too much time!

Karla - I'm sending prayers for sanity your way if you will send them mine - my oldest stepson and his girlfriend are getting married that same day:) Maybe we can keep each other updated on the craziness at our ends!! I think you have more to do as the mother of the bride though so good luck!!

Congratulations to your daughter! My daughter was married 4 years ago this August. She and I did all the decorating, baking and planning while both of our men were in Iraq. It was crazy, but one of the best summers spent with my daughter that I ever had. I made all her table covers, centerpieces, the flower girl's dresses and even her cake! She wanted one of those fondant cakes that look like packages stacked on top of eachother. The bakery wanted about $2000.00 for it! I practiced the fondant on a small cake for her bridal shower and then made the wedding cake! It turned out beautiful and the wedding was fantastic. She was married at her granparent's farm and the weather was great for the wedding day. The night before we had a monsoon rain. All in all it wasn't the wedding but the time spent with my daughter that I remember so well. Just enjoy the time together and don't stress about the small stuff.

My son is eloping I think. He swore his brother to secrecy this past week. I am not upset, if that's what the Donna his intended wants. I would encourage you to get a good book?wedding planner. They are very helpful with details.

It's all good!

Hey Gals,
Just make sure that in all the craziness, you still take time to enjoy it. My daughter and I had the most fun planning her wedding and although it was a lot of work, we treasure those memories a lot.

Congratulations, Karla! Keep your sanity and take time to paint your toes :)

Our daughter got engaged too and is getting married July 31st. Oh the plans....she will be here 5 days before the wedding. So I get to do most things before then. We are online & the phone alot getting things planned.

Today the gal I hoped for for the cake told me she's not available, but I call another tomorrow. Otherwise it's a step by step process.

My mom coordinates a quilt for the couple. She sends out plain blocks with some general instructions to people who love them and are important in their lives. Then she sets the block with a print with colors of the couples choice. She has done 3 of these so far & now for a 4th. So cool.

So far things are coming together. We did find out today that first choice photographer has a wedding booked already so on to the next one! We have Tulip Time this week so we have put things on hold pretty much until next week & then gangbusters again! Thanks for all the great ideas. What did eveyone do for favors? We are wanting to make something instead of buy.

The bridesmaids have matching shoes! Ashley's shoes have been found & purchased! Still have to pick up table clothes & silverware. Ashley is going to order invitations today. Busy, busy, busy!!!!And we still have hair!!!

We are using dishes of home-made carmels on each table as favors, which reminds me I'd better order the wrappers, forgot all about that! DD and her guy love them and asked that I make copies of the recipes to put out with the carmels.

Our neighbor's daughter bought plain little boxes, put a few candies in each and tied each with a ribbon tied into a bow with a couple of little washer things to represent rings.

Good idea Susan.
I worked on Ashley's bouquet last night-I will get pictures when I get it finished. It is coming along nicely. I want to have plenty of time to work on these so we went & got the flowers right away!

Yeah! I showed my daughter the bride's bouquet Tuesday & she loves it! YEAH! Now I can finish it with the ribbon. I haven't gotten any good pictures of it yet but will work on that! I have one of the bridesmaids done also & she loves it also! YEAH! I didn't realize I would be so worried about it! I want it to be everything she wants it to be! My grandso has ben sick since Tuesday & so I have helped out with him and have not been back at it but will need to keep moving n them. I want them done in plenty of time. Thanks for all of your thoughts & prayers-keep it up it is working!
