Debra, I didn't see the fox. But ya better watch out. That's pretty close to evening enough to not be too worried about it being sick. She must have kits somewhere and needs the food to be able to feed them. They are so pretty. Is it a red tailed fox?

I have a fox that has been more agressive to my chickens latelt and I am sure it's a mama. I keep hoping she will start eatting the gophers and moles!

I did have a fox kill and eat one of my chickens about 3 weeks ago. I saw her(I think it was a her)eating it. We knew there were several on the hillside across the highway from us but they've never bothered the chickens until now.
"Let us never forget that the cultivation of the earth is the most important labor of man. When tillage begins, other art follows. The farmers, therefore, are the founders of civilization."

I have a fox come to your yard every night at dusk (to visit the plate of leftovers I leave). Now it even lets me sit on the porch and watch him. Last week, out of the woods came a second fox! They seemed very happy together. And I have seen them in the daytime, like 9:30 in the morning chasing squirrels around. I love to see them, but I know they are needing habitat and coming too close to people. It makes me sad sort of.
I have a photo on my blog too, from about a month ago. Scroll down the posts in March and you will see what I said about my little red friend.

Debra - you know, I could not believe I got that photo! I went to get my camera, and shot out of the dining room window, and thought any second the fox would bolt. Since then I have seen two, as I said, and one came again tonight. The menu was bread soaked with chicken noodle soup.
I went to your blog, and you are right!!!! It could be the same fox, if we were closer!

They are beautiful creatures, aren't they? I have a fox in my woods from time to time, but he is very elusive and I only see him in the winter when his red fur stands out against the winter snow. Like your blog.
