Hey girls :)

I noticed that my chives are starting to blossom. Is it too early? Here in SW Colorado our growing season is shorter and we don't start planting until after Memorial Day for fear of frost. We had our last snow about 2 weeks ago.

Should I remove the blossoms? This is my first time having chives.

I would remove the blossoms. They are delicious in a salad!

I like to take the blossoms and make vinegar. It makes a pretty color, and is wonderful in dressings and marinades.

I wear my cap around my waist.

Vinegar sounds like a great idea.

I love mixing mine with sour cream for baked potatoes and the like.

I just cut mine back.

What other herbs are you growing?

Okay, I am going to make some vinegar! A friend called yesterday asking if I wanted some bottles she had been saving for a project. perfect! I knew I could count on you ladies, thank you!

Julia,

What kind of vinegar do you use as a base? White or White Wine? Or Red Wine?
