I have approx. 125 Canna Lily Tubers to trade. They are tall with plain green leaves and red orange flowers. I think they are the Miss Oklahoma variety.

I would like to trade for Iris in colors than the yellow and purple I have, or for other colors of Canna. Or if you want some, e-mail me and maybe I will trade for something else or just for postage.

Happy Gardening!

Do you know if Canna Lilies grow in zone 5? I was wondering.....

I have some iris, but they are in the traditional purple bearded variety.

XOXO, Libbie

Libbie -- Cannas will grow fine in Zone 5. You may have to take the bulbs up in the winter??? Anyone else know? They love the heat so put them in a really sunny spot.

I would love to have a few Canna bulbs. I have some of the Japanese Iris that are the blue with yellow throats if you'd like to trade for those.

Cannas do fine in zone 5, mine are proof of that. I started with a dozen or so bulbs 5 years ago and now they've really multiplied. You do have to lift them in the fall. I like to lift them before the first killing frost, when just a few of the leaves have blackened from a mild frost. I lift them, shake off as much dirt as possible, and then cut the tops down to a couple inches above the tuber. Then I put them in an old laundry basket or pail for a few days to let them dry out just a little. Then they go inside a large plastic tub lined with a garbage bag. One layer of cannas, one layer of newspaper and so on until the container is full. Then I close the top of the bag loosely and check every couple weeks to make sure they're not too moist or too dry. I'd like to trade with both of you for the iris. E-mail me with your addresses please.
