I just had to put new floors in my kitchen from the foundation up on a tight budget and wanted a island so I took two of my mothers kitchen cabinets and put them together, put a porcelain top on it, covered the back with a solid piece of wood, and painted it with blackboard paint, so my grandson would have a place to play while grandma cooks!!

When the shower curtain liner needs replaced, the old one still has some use. I fold it in quarters and it works perfect as a cover for our firepit. The screen cover for the firepit holds it down so it's doesn't blow off.

I am making a mini chalk board out of a metal tray I bought for $.50.

I'll have photos on my S.C.R.A.P. blog soon.

Hey Kristi,
Using that Chalkboard paint on some masonite to put inside some thrift shop frames to use at Farmers Market for prices on my aprons.
Pretty nifty product!

Kristina, that scissors and tape hanger is really great. It looks so cute and handy at the same time. Something I will think about making.

Found an old galvanized pail across the street from my house in an old dump. There's holes in the bottom. Will be using it for a planter. Still has the handle.

I'm making a button jar from an empty peanut butter jar. Pictures will be on my S.C.R.A.P blog tomorrow :) Great for hope chests. I have another kiddo graduating, and these will be a nice addition to their hope chests.

This spring I am so proud of my recycled greenhouse. I utilized old half wine barrels that are no longer planters, big 2'X10' shelves that the neighbor gave me when she moved, hoops from gardening that used to use to keep the deer off the garden plants, plastic from the construction site nearby, garden stakes and big containers filled with water as a thermal barrier. I ended up with a 100sqft greenhouse that kept my plants toasty warm. I even managed to get the peppers to germinate! Everything is moving out of the greenhouse and getting put into the ground in the next week. I even have a ton of shredded paper from my nine-to-five that will work great as a mulch to keep the weeds down between the garden beds.

On another note, our chicks are growing very fast, and they go through an entire 'small' feeder of food in half a day. Does anyone have any ideas or has re-purposed something that could be used as a feeder for our hungry chicks?

Oh let's see....
1. Made a bottomless chicken tractor from some pallets, a blue tarp, and some chain link fence.
2. Made raised beds from some cardboard, pallets, and well composted horse manure.
3. Started seedlings in egg shells in the cartons.
4. Made a reusable ziploc bag from an old plastic tablecloth and some scrap fabric.
5. I put an old rocking chair in the front yard and planted some trumpet vines behind it so they'll twine up through the back with violets around it and a piece of the plastic packaging from the invisible fence in the seat with thyme planted in it. It should look like a chair cushion when it gets growing good.

That's just lately. I love to repurpose things. No point buying new when you can reuse something you already have. Last year I made bags from old jeans (they already have pockets!) and placemats. I cut some old t-shirts into loops and used them to knit a rug for the bag door this spring. I made slobber mats to put under the dog's water bowl with placemats sandwiched between two cloth napkins I bought at rummage sale.

I could go on for a long time! lol

I take the perfume sample cards that are in magazines and use them in dresser drawers. or in the linen closet. Even use the mens fragrances for "his" sock drawer.

I found a vintage copper chamberpot (I think that's what it may be) and am repurposing it to hold soil on my gardening bench.

Recently, I started cutting up my kids baby and toddler clothes to make them each a quilt. I also have used some of the old clothes to make doll clothes. And you know those old style spinning hanging belt organizers? I don't wear belts, so I hung one on my spice rack above my stove, and all my measuring spoons are hanging on it. It's pretty handy :)

Smile always!

I use feed sacks to make shopping bags, toilet paper rolls for plant starters, sweatshirts for swiffer covers and many other things. I can't throw anything away with out thinking... "What can I make from this" and I don't buy anything without saying "What can I make one of these out of". It becomes a way of life.

Awhile back I received for free a corner shelf cabinet. It was in a kids room and little by little I'm re-doing it.
My bedroom is cowgirl/ranch themed.
Plan on painting the cupboard doors a sage and the trim a deep beige. Inside the shelves I may line it with various fabric or paper and seal with mod pog.

Looking forward to how it will look when done!

Blessings,
Linda
