Oh Sandra, welcome to the forum. There was a discussion a few days ago about kids leaving home. My last child leaves next year and I wonder what I will do. What do you enjoy? Maybe it is time to learn a new hobby. Maybe a new pet. Take good care, Carol

My son leaves next year too and I'm already having days where I am a wreck. I'm sure the pets will fill in as far as noise goes but time? Time to work on some new hobbies for sure!!

| Sandra, Don't be sad. It is a new world with many potentials. In am 52 and my last kid flew the coop in 2000. Yep, I had them young. I love having my hubby and house back. One child lives 3 miles down the road. The other two live 1 1/2 hours and 4 hours away. I see them atleast once a month and talk to them atleast once a week. I love the freedom. I go to bed when I want, I go to a show without thinking about kids, I can travel without worrying about them. It is a bit overwhelming at first, but I think you will like it once the new wears off. How about adopting the mantra- LET THE FUN BEGIN!!!!!!! |

I am a semi-empty nester. My oldest came back after college but she is fairly independent. She has gone back to school to get a teaching degree and can't afford her own apartment, yet. She substitute teaches and works at a church camp whenever she can. Our middle daughter is out on her own and the youngest is in college, has a job and an apartment. It is nice not having to worry about them as much.
