So I have this cut on my finger and went looking for a Bandaid I found a lovely Cinderella and have cured that problem. But what I found was very disturbing I have now thrown away all the out of date medicines. Here I thought I had a few things for when the grandkids are here and might get hurt or have a sick tummy and I have just thrown it all away.. Sooooo thought I would suggest to all to go check your out off date meds over the counter and scripts. I am going to do this every year when I change the batteries on the smoke alarms.

Excellent idea!
Forget buns of steel, I'd rather have buns of cinnamon!

If your town has a hazardous waste day to collect and safely dispose of things like paint and batteries that is also a good time to clean out your meds. They are finding traces of medications in groundwater and lakes due to folks throwing them away, flushing them and well, "flushing them" if you catch my drift. Some pharmacies will take your outdated stuff to dispose of, but you may have to talk to your state's department of natural resources to get the ball rolling on collection days a couple times a year.
Prayer costs nothing, but is worth the most. |

PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE do not just throw old medicines in with trash or flush them down the sewer!!!!!! Ditto what Amy said about contacting your state's natural resources. I'm pretty sure most pharmacies will take old ones to dispose of properly.
This is a BIG deal! It just doesn't get the news coverage other environmental topics get.

If it's not illegal, unsafe, or immoral, why not try anything once? Who knows? You may come back for a second helping! |
