Wow....how did I miss this post before? Wonderful old tree.

I wonder if John Chapman planted this tree.....Johnny Appleseed. He roamed your area of the country!! I wouldn't doubt that it is one of his!!

Oh, how beautiful. You can see the faces of time in the tree. The Indians, or so I heard, believe in tree spirts living in the trees. This tree surely must be a tree spirt of many. I like that you share the magic of the tree with your granddaughters. We need more grandmoms like you. Enjoy and keep close to heart the time you spend with your family, they are all the riches in the world.

This tree proves that mother nature is the Queen of art. I love how gracefully the trunk twists and her bark covering follows every turn. Under her umbrella arms, we could all just dream the days away. Here's to another 200 yrs!!!

I love the possibility Aunt George mentioned - that it may have been planted by Johnny Appleseed. What a wonderful tree; I see faces in two of the photos. Very wise and old faces, just like the tree.

That is magnificent! What a stately old tree...if it could talk, the stories it would tell!
