We were out wild harvesting a few yummy things last night and we came
across something that we do not know what it is.

The leaves are spear like and a little toothy and are clustered in
groups of five going up the stem until we reach the flower clusters,
which grow sort of like a spire, sort of like mint, but this is not a
mint family plant. No square stem. the flowers are white and tiny and
clustered up the rest of the way of the stem. I searched all of my
books and online and am coming up dry. Any ideas?

I can take a picture later when the baby wakes up.

Tasha, As ex Minnesotans and a husband who is a botanist I read him your description and he thinks it's Culver's Root (Veronicastrum virginicum) We will await the picutre to verify) JoAnn P.S. How's the blueberry crop? We have land near Willow River which is now in the hands of our son and he's been picking a lot.

Okay now that I know what it is, I did a little research on it and what I found is nice. It seems to be good for the liver, the GI tract and for women after giving birth.

Does your husband know of any other good uses for it medicinally or for food?

Tasha you're welcome. Jim isn't really into that aspect of plants. In my medicinal book it is listed as toxic. If used only the dry root should be used, the fresh can be a bad laxative.JoAnn P.S. what yummy things were you finding?
