I'm really trying to get away from store-purchased bread but I can't always be around to make bread during the day. I've tried doing baking just on one day a week but that doesn't seem to work for our family, so I'm trying out a breadmaker machine. Anyone else using one? It's not a super fancy model but it does do 2 pound loaves, dough for rolls and bagels and even mixes and cooks jam (not sure I'll use that function, but it's kind of nifty). If you have any good wheat breadmaker recipes, I'd love to see some - especially honey wheat!

I do use my breadmachine and I like it but am trying to get into the Artisanal bread in 5 minutes a day.

Kimberly Ann - I love my bread machine, I just use it on the dough cycle and do the second rise and the baking in the oven. I have a couple of good bread machine cookbooks so if you need recipes let me know!!

I have one that I use ALL the time! I really miss kneading by hand but due to shoulder and neck injuries it hurts. So, I just use the dough cycle and shape the dough however I want. I scored at the Thrift Store and found a Zoijurishi (sp?) for only $7.00.

I love my bread maker and love it. My machine does dough for pizza and stuff as well. We eat this kind of bread all the time.

I use my breadmaker to knead and do the first rise too. I always do the shaping, second rise and baking out of the machine though. I just don't like the shape of the bread baked in the machine and the hole in the bottom!! LOL!!

Amy Grace - Would you mind sharing the name of your cook books for bread making? I would love to start using my breadmaker again. I quit using it because I couldn't find any good recipes.

Thanks!

Have had one for years. I don't bake in it, I use it only for mixing and kneading the dough, saves wear and tear on my shoulder ets. Make pizza dough in it as well. I do only the first rising in the bread maker, knead a little bit and let the 2nd rising in the pans, and the oven for that heavenly scent....

Cynthia - one is called "Bread Machine Magic" by Linda Rehberg and Lois Conway, published in 1992. That has lots of bread recipes. The other is "Pizza, Focaccia, Flat, and Filled Breads from your Bread Machine - Perfect Every Time" by Lora Brody, published in 1995. I think Lora Brody has written another one too but I haven't tracked it down yet. I have found half.com to be a great place to get cookbooks, you can search by key word or authors name
Hope that helps!!

I have gotten 2, brand new, at yardsales over the years. I use them for ww, or spelt pizza dough, various roll doughs, anything really. BUT I only use the dough cycle, so I can braid, roll, whatever, the dough myself...

Be the change...
