OK you spunkies!!! Who's been "spring-flinging" and how have you "flung spring"?

I spent at lot of weekend time outside, flinging stuff out of my flowerbes . . . dead, old stuff. Needed to clear that out so the new greenery can show . . and new flowers can bloom.

Also, flung my pruners around trimming branches off the pear and the checcy tree. They needed a lighter load . . . last year you could sit on the ground and pick cherries!!

Flung all sorts of stuff out of the garden getting it cleaned up and ready to till. ALL SORTS OF STUFF!!!! Hubby got it tilled and so, in about a month we'll plant our seeds. Then sometime around June 10th, we'll plant our plants. We ALWAYS (and I'm serious!) have a late frost the very end of May/first of June. Too many folks get antsy, enjoy some warm May days, plant stuff and then . . . WHAM!!! Get frosted!!

Anyway, by nightfall last night my SPRING FLING and FLUNG - OUT . . . !!!!!
Hope to hear your stories. (I don't have to tell you how I was dressed

CJ, You spring flinger, you! I started cleaning out beds too, we also get a late frost middle to end of May. I almost lost some plants last year because I got antsy. The aprons arrived! I must say, they are absolutely beautiful!!!!! Love them both, but the black and white and red one is on me right now. I will post pictures soon...need DH home to take them and he is working nights. I also received my purple raffia today! It is the perfect color, I am happy and hooking some hats! I have to ice my ankle anyway so I might as well crochet (a little rhyme). The doc says I don't have gout, but they don't know what I have. Probably some spunky old broad disease! T-shirt design still getting changed around some. It has to evoke the perfect spunky! More tests at the doctor tomorrow....Talk to ya later all you SOB's!

Why not go out on a limb, that's where all the fruit is! "Mark Twain"

Well spunkies, April's almost over... it sounds like we have all flung our weeds and last years dead plants out, lol!
My spring has sprung somewhere else that's for sure. :( Not sure where it went to, but if it shows up in your towns, please send some back to me, willya?!!
Today I am about to fling 22 of my 33 chicks out of my kitchen into the garage. 11 went yesterday, they survived our coooold night last night, so the rest go today.
Then I get to clean out the chicken dust and feathers, they left behind. I told hubby, no more chicks in the kitchen ever again!
Aside from that, my spunky old self has been taking my 100 lb. + golden retriever for a walk in the fields and woods just about every day. Hubby says he can't deal with him, he pulls on the leash too much, but for me Bear is a jewel. He's my baby of course, that may be why, but I am getting a nice little workout every day, and that's as spunky as I get for this month!
And, what's up in every one else's neck of the woods?

DH and I cleaned the honeysuckle out of the Spiurea(sp)bush yesterday after we noticed that our Spi....(not spelling that sucker again) hahahaha hardly have any little white flowers on it this year. Now, mind you, I love my honeysuckle, but it needs to show a little reserve. I mean, control yerself for pete's sake(whoever pete is,that's always bothered me,who is he anyhow???)...I digress...sorry...so we hacked and we yanked and yanked and we hacked and my back said, "ooooowwwwwww" and I said "not noooooowwwww"
and we chopped it back to a managable size. ~phew~ we were 2 pooped critters when we were done. Man that thing had runners big as DH's thumbs. I'm talkin' BIG!!!Now you can "throw-a-cat"...no....a trailer load of cats between those 2 bushes. Ya know, it won't be 2 months DH and I will be sayin', "didn't we just clean up THAT bush??" You know it's true. So, THAT was our fun-fling-thing! ...oh....the back???....better today thanks fer askin'.

Lol Judy, isn't is funny how those bushes take over like that?!! Honeysuckle does have a way of spreading out to occupy whatever free space it can find! I have a wisteria that is way out of control, but the last time I attacked it I discovered poison ivy in the middle of the whole mess. Someone else is going to have to take care of that one!
Is it Spirea you're talking about? The pretty little bushes that remind me of baby's breath? I have 2 of those out front. They get choked with creeping clover.
All my chicks are now out in the garage, and what a job that was!
And the kitchen is now de-feathered. There were feathers in places I didn't even think of!
I told hubby, no animals in the kitchen ever again!! Well baby ones at least!
My mom and dad arrive from SC today, so excited!

And the wind, AGAIN, has flung Arizona, New Mexico and Utah into southwest Colorado. I love spring! I love the green and growing things, flowers, and blossoming fruit trees. BUT I ABSOLUTELY HATE THE SPRING WINDS!!! Some of the days are not so bad but when you can see that red dirt rolling in from the SW then you know you're in for a day of DIRTY air, no visibility and howling wind.

Did that again yesterday!! YYYYYYUUUUUUUUKKKKKKKK!!!!!!! The dirt settled down some in the night but the wind continued to howl . . .
Finally got our lawnmower de-winterized and I mowed our yard yesterday. This time of year it looks scruffy!! BIG clumps of this here and BIGGER clumps of that over there . . . And the wind flung me and the lawnmower all around the yard.

Today I have a washer full of wet laundry that needs to be hung out, so I'm hoping that the wind calms down so I can hang it. First of all I don't want it flung off to the neighbors and I don't want it loaded with all that Four Corners States red dirt.

I'd prefer that it snowed than blowed!!!! Isn't is interesting how spring yard work makes you remember all those yard work muscles you have that don't get exercised during the winter months!!!

The fruit trees in front of my house (those pictured in my picture on this thread) are all in bloom now . . . that wind did a number on those beautiful blossoms though!!! The ones in the pic are pears with apples in the far background. But next to the pears are cherries . . dark, sweet, luscious ones (no they aren't Bings, but they are SUPERB!!!)

Well, I'm off to see what April 29th Spring-Flinging I can get done . . . and you spunkies enjoy what's left of April!!!!
CJ

Anyway . . . got ba-zillion things to do today and I work tomorrow, then another ba-zillion things to do on Saturday!!! Never enough time!!!

YES Brenda, that's the bush(man did I butcher that and it was so simple...Spirea...hmmm...who knew...lolol) If it weren't for the yummy, hypnotic smell of Honeysuckle we'd probably just tear them out completely. But I love those and my lilacs. mmmmm Glad you got all those feathers cleaned up. That had to be difficult. And all those babies lost. So sad.
Boy CJ, I hope you have a windmill up to harness all that energy. hahahaI was picturing you flying out behind the mower. I keep telling DH that we need one here because we always have a steady wind/breeze...nothing cray like you do, but steady. And we're wasting it. haha It's 63/sunny but chilly breezes today. Tomorrow it's suppose to be 85...yuk...too much too fast. We've had heavy frosts the past two nights. Well girlys...have a great Spunky day!
