did teenagers get interested in vintage? My grandson went to a prom recently and some of the girls were wearing vintage. How cool is that? Anyone else see that going on in their community? Check the pics on my blog if you like.

Well...that's not a new thing for me, since when I was a teen prom age about 15 years ago, I would have done the same thing!! Its nice to see, though. :)

Wow! They look too good. I love the fur wraps and the hats. I'll have to see what kids will be wearing around here soon.

I think it is cool too. Sorta' dressing like the 'big band' era!

My girls did that too. And they love vintage. My youngest asked for a record player for Christmas instead of an Ipod. They love old clothes and I have one that wears my old shoes or my grandmothers shoes all the time. My oldest spends time at thrift store searching for vintage linens and one loves old hats. I thinks it is way fun. I have always loved vintage and make clothes out of my Mom and Grandma's old patterns. When my youngest was in 5th grade she found an old pattern of a dress I had worn in the 5th grade and I made her two dresses off that pattern that were her favorites. They are all wearing aprons. I would love to see the "steam punk" I haven't seen that yet.

that would be awesome if vintage came back to this generation of teenagers... I know it's fairly popular in my age group(20-30), but I haven't seen the teens wearing it... I sure hope it comes back in style! Get past all this "show your body parts" style and get into some glamour! I always watch my favorite movies from the 40's and wish women wore beautiful dresses more in public, other than for special occasions, dances, and events...

Love it. Vintage was "cool" when I was a teen in the 80's, too. (Ie, Molly Ringwald, Pretty in Pink). Vintage style is so feminine and glamorous. So true about the 40's, Elizabeth.

There is hope! My neice, 19, is totally into vintage. Not only that but she loves to cook, and I am teaching her to sew. Guess what patterns she wants to use??? The old ones from the 1950's! We are having a ball! My son, 18, only listens to music from the 1970-1980 era and loves bluegrass. And Farans girl, I love you "signature"!!! Too funny!

Thanks, classygram, my son would have been very proud of him. He is a handsome young man and he's 6'2", his Dad was only 5'6"! He is a smart one too, can you tell I am proud? :) He will be 17 in July.

Karen there is absolutely nothing more wonderful and a true blessing than a grandchild! He is at that age of becoming a man and yet in your heart and memories you can still see him as that sweet baby boy. I have 3 grandsons and I'm just amazed at the young men they are becoming. Something to treasure everyday! Enjoy him as I'm sure you are!

Blessings, Brenda

About 12 yrs ago when my oldest son had his senior prom he wanted to wear a kilt( with tux shirt and coat) with the family Tartan. His girlfriend had me make her a laced camisole and skirt to "match" the era. They looked Great! Very romantic. He also wore his kilt with a more casual shirt to his Academic award banquet. It cause quite a buzz from the adults, but the kids were very accepting.
