I have been completely lost without my vintage Hamilton---she bit the dust way last year and I have been sewing everything by hand---which is perfectly fine by me, but it takes me forever!
Last night my DH came home with a vintage singer stylist sewing machine in a beautiful mahogany cabinet-slightly dusty, but in very good condition! What a nice surprise....![](icons/icon_smile_shock.gif)
And there you go...a vintage sewing machine once again in the house--Can't wait to get "stitching!"
Do any of you have a vintage sewing machine?

That depends on your definition of vintage. I have a Singer Creative Touch 1030, which my mother traded up to in 1980. I began on an old black Singer, so it's still the new model to me. I also found a Touch & Sew with cabinet at at flea market about five years ago for $20. I gave the cabinet to a friend without one and had the machined checked out. It's in the closet as a spare, but for that price I also got another set of attachments. It cost me about $20 for a replacement snap on foot from Singer ages ago. |

There is one up in the attic, i would love to be able to use it.. :(... We live in the farm house, (which is ours) BUT... the attic has years and years and years of peoples things in it and i'm not allowed to touch anything in it until the DBF's great aunt comes and goes through it and gets what she wants. I know, i'm sounding impatient and a little greedy, but we've lived here for over a year and she still hasnt came yet. But i would LOVE to be about to use that machine, i think its from the 20's.

Day before yesterday my DH and I went to look at an old treadle sewing machine after calling the guy and confirming a time to meet him at his house--we get there and he sees me and asks me to come in and then he noticed my DH standing behind the door...he immediately said the treadle sewing machine had been sold just that afternoon and that he had tried to phone me but my caller ID was not coming up on his phone. It was very, very, CREEPY....I never go anywhere on a "hunt" without my DH and I am so glad he was there. We walked away quickly, but it was a very disturbing experience.
I am still looking for a treadle in good condition maybe someday!
Lesson learned-----Trust you gut instinct and bring along your DH or DF with you on a "hunt" never go alone!

Eww weird Melody - good thing DH was with you!! I have two vintage sewing machines - one is a 1949 Singer that was my Mom's - she uses an even more vintage Singer that was my Grandma's. I also have a really old treadle that was left in a rental house that I lived in years ago - can't remember what brand it is. I have a modern Singer too - I love them all!! Amy Grace

Melody, I have two treadle sewing machines. I found a White Rotary (1922) on craigslist, you might try that in your area. But always meet in a public area or take someone with you. And my other treadle is a Franklin (1938) This one belonged to my Grandmother and was passed down to me last summer. It needs to be cleaned up and a new belt put on it. Connie

Melody, that is wonderful! My main machine is my Janome that Dad got for my a few years ago after my 1968 touch n sew bit the dust. Last year I picked up a bigger sewing table that came with a 1964 touch n sew. Was thinking of selling it after I check it out,but perhaps good to have a spare?
