by Catherine Blyth. Picked it up off Schuler's clearance rack, but really getting into this. She's concerned that in this age of Ipod, texting, etc that people will replace more and more of our human interaction with "machines" and lose our ability to question things. "Ethics, after all, derive from our feelings, and if we don't understand something, it is harder to sense what is right or wrong, let alone argue against it. How many of us can comprehend, never mind democratically vote on, nanotechnology or genetically modified food, animals, embryos? ........how about brain death by Ipod?"
It's kind of ironic I'm discussing this book on a forum. Hehe

I'm going to have to look this book up! I have to agree with it! I hadn't thought about the ethics standpoint, but I've been telling my husband that children are going to forget how to have a face to face conversation. They always have their face in some sort of electronics. Texting each other etc. Sad when someone tells you that they allow their children to bring cell phones to the dinner table. We don't allow anyone to answer the regular phone at dinner time. Oh, I better stop, this is a hot button for me! I'm off to see if my library has the book.

I agree! I like to look into a persons eyes, and see the joy, confusion, sadness, etc. When you see you feel! I'm not saying that blogging or emails mean nothing. They do very much. And I enjoy them. But I like to be where I can touch or confort with a hug if need be. I think the eyes are very telling, and you can see deep inside. I once had a lady comment on how expressive my eyes were. Never thought about it. But have become aware of seeing more in eyes now. And isn't it so much more enjoyable when you can laugh out loud and also see the other person so tickled. It's just contagious! But for now, I hope you can see my smile for all the joy I get from all you ladies. Have a nice day. Blessings, Brenda

I certainly agree with all of you. Some days I just say "NO" to the computer, the phone, the TV, etc... Marly
