Hi ya`ll...This is my first year on our Farm with lots of gardens and etc. I have a couple of questions...Im not sure If Im posting this in the correct place either as Im fairly new to this Chatroom alltogether. But here goes....I have carrots, lots of them that Im pulling up now and there are ALOT of tiny sluggs in with them and somekind of eggs??? Anything I should do to prepare for the next round of veggies? Also what is a good mulch to use around veggies to keep weeds down that wont mess up the PH?????
Many Thanks

Aaahh, You have carrots already? I can't even plant yet, I'm so jealous. Crazy that we are in the same state yet have such different planting schedules. Anyway, no answers on the slugs as we don't much get them over here but straw is a good mulch I have found Amy grace

Okay I don't feel so jealous now:) Hay typically has seeds in it so you would be adding weeds rather than preventing them. Where is Bow? Amy Grace

Diatomacious earth is good to put on the soil because slugs don't like it. It is made up of super tiny crustation bodies and slugs can't move across it because it cuts them. You can find it at the feed store or garden center. Around here one form is called Stall dry because it is also a natural substance to put in a horse stall to help soak up pee. It won't affect soil ph that I know of. Sprinkle on top after you plant seeds. Jane
