I think that there is already a them for each month if you want to do it. Each month has it's own holidays and special things that come to mind. Such as fall winter and spring and summer. Or each holiday for that month. Sometimes it is fun to just do something different that does not have to follow a theme. But I will go along with the majority.

I too will go with the majority. Kathy, I am the same way, I never know what I will come up with til I get started. No pressure to do any certain thing. I did an Easter theme, then spring, 4th of July theme, summer flower theme and September is going to be fall and so on........For myself I like to relate to the time of year. But everyone has turned out the neatest mailart. I love them all. And I finally have a camera and am going to be able to post my mailarts!!!!! Can't wait. If I can figure out how to do it!!! LOL

I think it would be best not to have the theme too specific. I agree that most months lend themselves to certain themes already. Such as September = apples, leaves, acorns, etc. October = Halloween, scarecrows, harvest.... and so on. I think if we get too specific it could take some of the creativity & fun out of it. Just my two cents :)

August was my first time and my art turned out to be images and ephemera that spotlighted my area of Arkansas. Who knows what might turn up in Sept.

I am so sorry. I was just making a suggestion. We should just leave it the way it's always been. I did not mean to rock the boat ya'll. Please, there is no need to respond to this. I didn't write it to get any feedback.

And would you look at that? I am at seven thousand one hundred posts! How did this happen? Geeze, I sure talk alot!

So glad you liked it CJ. It was so much fun to make!!
I've just recently "discovered" mixed media and collage and it has become such an adventure and can't seem to get enough of it! Finally found a use for junk mail!!!
Curious to know if the mail art sent to Cindy in Utah got there. I hope it isn't lost somewhere along the way!

I totally agree with Monica and Terri...

Like Monica...I like the spontaneity of creating whatever flows from my heart, mind and fingers at the time. I did however love doing the Special Project For CJ & Robin...but that was on top of the regular Monthly Mail-Art.

And Like Terri...I like the surprise of what someone sends me. Will it be themed by personal choice or will it
be a design of creative outburst or will it have a planned and methodical bent to it??? I like not knowing until I receive it.

But mostly I like having Creative License to do my own thing!

Kris...nobody is upset with you...good grief girl, it was a great discussion (even if you didn't want one!) LOL

Welcome to our Newbies...this is a Fabulous Forum!

Just my two cents--Kristen, you have nothing to be sorry about. If we are afraid to offer new ideas, it's time to abandon this and move on. I loved the idea of themes. I also like doing my own thing.

Don't see why both can't be done!! Perhaps offer a theme and do it if you'd like or do your own thing. That's what makes this so fun. Never know what you're gonna' get!!

Keep throwing out new ideas.

(I'll get off the soap-box now-have a great day everyone!)

Good mornin' all!
I have a question. Is there a size or guide line our mail art needs to be?
It's hard to tell how big your creative & wonderful mail art is by the photo's you have added on here.
Thank you,

I am new here, but I think your creativity ideas is the only limit, no guidelines for size of the card, I don't believe

Darcy,
Your mail art can be whatever size you want it to be . . . you just have to be able to mail it through the mail. The breast cancer piece just above is about 7 x 11 or so. Just be as creative as you want to be. You should have gotten guidelines in the mail by now with tips on mailing.
Go for it!!
Hope that helps!!
CJ
