I am new to the boards and just would like to meet you all. This is a great site.

What makes where you live special to you?

If you could live anywhere in the USA where would it be and why?

Where do you think the ideal state, town, ect is to raise a family, good schools and good people?

Denise, nice to meet you. I live in southern Wisconsin. It is special to me because I was born here. Wisconsin has very fertile soil and the land changes from rolling fields to rolling hills to bluffs. There is a lot of Northern European heritage here. We are bordered by two great lakes and one huge river (the Mississippi). My DH and I are looking for our own larger piece of WI so when he retires from the military in 2012, we can have our self-sufficient farm. My DH want to go West, but I have family here and I think WI is a great place to grow my gardens. One downfall is all the snow and cold winter, but it is really beautiful and really makes you appreciate the other seasons. As for your last question, I think anywhere you bring your farmgirl heart is home.

Why not go out on a limb, that's where all the fruit is! "Mark Twain"

I have lived in Mass., RI, Fl, and MS. I have to say that small towns can be a double edged sword sometimes. If the town is small and not clannish then you're lucky. I grew up near the ocean and that was great. My children miss it too. I homeschool so the schools aren't a huge issue. I agree with family making a place home! I miss Florida but Mississippi is starting to feel like home after 4 years.

It's all good!
