Only you farm girls would understand this crazy dream, so thought I would share...lol....

I dreamt last night I was at Wal-Mart buying a case (dozen) of pint canning jars, like usual paid with my debit card and was walking out the door and looked down at my receipt and it said the total was $549.99!!! I start to panic trying to figure out what she did and How I was going to get corrected as I headed for the Service desk...I go..Oh, I see what she did she run up the price of each jar as a case!! LOL So, in my dream the case of pint jars would have been $45.83 each!! lol

I think this dream is because I have been thinking alot lately of the cost of jars, after hunting for second hand ones, decided Saturday I would just buy new as I needed them instead of ending up with a bunch of jars I didn't need, and besides, its hard to find used jars!! lol

I guess our mind doesn't quit even when we are asleep! Do you all dream about your hobbies???

Hugs, Michelle

Michelle, it's too bad you live so far. I have hundreds of old jars I'm not using. You'd just need bands and lids.

When I find old full jars tucked back in some cupboard, I just throw the whole things away. Who wants fifteen year old jam?

Oh well. Maybe I'll use a few this summer, and my daughter can take some. I'll never can at the rate I did fifteen years ago again.

Michele, I found alot of jars at my local flea market & they all had lids & bands. Sometimes you really have to hunt & I never buy them if the bands look to worn but I must hane bought at least 100 jars at this flea market. I know what you mean about dreaming of things you thought of before bed. Do our minds ever stop??

Put up small ads at grocery stores, fees stores, fabric shops, etc requesting old canning jars.

I always use new lids and replace bands only if they're rusty.

I was thinking about Michelle's post while I was picking up the house, and it reminded me of a crazy dream I had just a few nights ago. I was at a big auditorium or arena or some place like that. I was standing in the lobby when someone I knew (no idea who it was), came running out all excited. When I asked her what was going on she exclaimed, "There's another farmgirl in there." I then walked back into the arena, full of thousands of people. I could here someone chanting something. I have no idea what they were chanting, but it was like a secret Farmgirl chant. I must have woke up then because I can't remember anything else.

When I remembered the dream today, I had to giggle. It reminded of the secret farmgirl hand shake that was mentioned on another post.

Crazy Dream!

Not how long, but how well you have lived is the main thing.

Haven't been dreaming about jars yet but I have had dreams about things I think about a lot. (money, work, my future farm etc...) I am with you on the hunt for jars. Not too many people canning here in the suburbs.

Nicole,

I saw some jars at the flee market the other Saturday but it was going to be too much a a hassle to try to haul them around so didn't get them besides they looked so nasty. I am thinking I just might like some new ones.

Hugs,

Michelle

i have gotten TONS of jars for next to nothing at garage sales. i even helped one lady finish emptying what she hadn't carried up from the basement, including a bunch filled with 20 year old pickle relish. i just dumped it and ran them through the dishwasher, a couple of them took a little extra scrubbing around the rims to get the rotted seal off.

Mary Ann, i would take yours in a heart beat, including the ones with old jam! i love a deal and couldn't afford to can without all those ladies wanting to unload their jars.
