I just got an e-mail that said it was from MJF that just said "please check out my blog, been raising chicks for 40 years" then there's a link, not one I recognize from anyone posting here - there is no other message like a personal hello - has anyone else had this happen? Hacker maybe?

Haven't seen it, myself. I'd avoid the link; MJF doesn't send out e-mails unless you are subscribed to a topic.

Amy Grace I recieved it too. I didnt click the link, but googled the blog name. It is a guy who raises chickens or something. He registered here today, but hasnt posted. I just deleted it.

If he's a genuine Chicken Farmer & he wants to join in - I recommend he post and share Farm Girl style with us here before he gets plucked clean right here in the chat.
As my elder neighbor always warns the menfolk at community pot lucks, 'don't rile up us Hens....there's a reason there's only one rooster in the Hen House....'

I got one, too. I can't figure out who it would be. Maybe someone's husband or son? I thought it was kind of strange to get an e-mail from MJF and it was a guy.

I got one too and saw that the person was newly registered. I agree, more info and interaction is needed so we won't be so alarmed.
Enjoy the little things, for one day you may look back and realize they were the big things.

I mentioned that I got a few of those weird emails to Carol and she is taking care of it. I thought it was spam of something being sent through MJF.I didn't go to his blog, it would have been nice to have had an introduction or something. I'm just super-cautious after getting several email viruses and having to have my computer rescued for me.

i think we need to be very careful about weird e-mails. one site i go to had malware and i had to get my puter gut to fix it. glad its getting looked into just a thought sherrye

I found Annika's message and Carol's response under Technical Support after I wrote this. I didn't open the link either - very strange. At least I know I'm not alone:) And thanks to the farm for checking this out!!

Ladies, this is why we don't post our addresses, e-mail addresses, last names, birth dates, etc. One of my friends on here e-mailed me and told be that she is getting all of these requests from people on MJF ( she said that she has never seen them post on here) and some of them are guys, asking if they can connect on yahoo. It was a really eye opener for me. So if you get an e-mail from someone you don't know or even if it is someone from MJF check into it. Who knows, there could be tons of guys on here waiting for someone to mess up and give private info. Anyway, this is just my thoughts. lol

I got the email as well and just deleted it. The member information was not on the MJF website.

Yes, I did receive it also. I looked over the site and there is a lot of valid information on poultry. It didn't occur to me that there was anything malicious intended, but then I'm a 2 on a scale of 1-10 when it comes to cyber savvy. I assumed that someone was simply sharing their website. Shery J

I'm glad I am not the only one who looked. I guess I'm like the curious cat. Most things I will delete but this came from MJF so I thought it was ok. But I thought it was weird that it was from a man. So I just thought it might be someone's husband or brother. I sure hope it wasn't a hacker. I really don't know about these computers.

Maybe it was someone trying to drum up business from farmgirls? It's still considered spamming, though.
