For those of you that have chickens I would love to see some pictures of their housing arrangements. I keep going back and forth on what we want for the girls I get this spring. So what do you have?
We'll probably build it ourselves. Here's your chance to show off! I'll bet there are at least a few other farmgirls that would like to see your pictures too.
I have a PVC hoophouse as my henhouse..lol..You can use cattle panels but I had gotten free pvc pipes and wire. I had put tarp over my hoophouse for the winter with a bale of hay inside for them to scratch around in and it keeps the floor dryer for me since I get rain just about every week here..
Oh I forgot. We flipped the tarp over to the silver side when spring and summer gets here to reflect the light off the roof part. And open the back up to let fresh air flow thru.
That is such a great idea. You have just put one more idea in this farmgirl's head. I'm sure my hubby will thank you for that. But that would make a great cow or goat shed. And as I was looking at it I thought about a hay storage shed, too. We are in need of more places to put hay and I think that would work perfect. I saw somewhere a tarp specifically for hay. So here go the wheels turning! Again! They really never stop.
LOL..all this stuff for the hoophouse was free except the tarps.. I was given everything for it..My son in law built the door for me. It does stay dry in the house all year round. I have a 8 egg nestbox in the back I built out of scrap wood..need to go take pics of inside tomorrow..It sits on the ground so my runner ducks can lay their eggs in there too...
You can use it as a shed for any kind of animal or for a lawn mower to store in. LOL...I have 2 more of these..one as a palm hothouse which will turn into a peacock house..lol..my other one is a hothouse full of plants with Xmas lites to keep it warm when the temps go down pass 35 degrees. I don't completely tack the backside down that faces the northwind..in case I have a hot day, I can open it up and cool off the hothouse..
