Today I am working on finishing a Mountain Man Jacket for a customer.
It was started some years back, needs to be re-sized to fit and he would like it to button in the front rather than pulling it over his head.

So that is taking time to alter the design, add in the needed pieces and then make all the fringe! I will post pictures when it is done.

I'm hoping to finish my daughter's garter and ring bearer pillow for her wedding in 3 weeks! I also need to put the finishing touches on my netbook cover. AND, most importantly, I'm praying for Betty and all cancer patients. Dianne

WOW! It's been a long time since I've visited here...... You guys are inspiring me though. I too have been cleaning. I have several things I'd like to start, but am making myself finish up putting 2 BIG boxes of pictures in albums. ( Boring, but needs done) Today I have been sewing/designing dog coats. My BFF has a Chihuaha (sp?) The little guy is always cold and most ready mades are out of her budget. I found several ideas online and have made her 3 different types out of fleece scraps. Tomorrow we will see which one she likes best.

Thank you Sharon!

Hi Teddie, I sew dog coats too! I have a pattern for the "tea cup dogs" Never saw such a tiny full size dog in my life! A woman approached me to help, the dog would have froze to death up here in the Great North Woods. I would love to see a picture of your doggie coat. . Hint. .Hint

Joanna... I really have to learn how to post pics. I'm very technically challenged. I love all the sewing and hand crafts, but the computer stuff baffles me. One of my goals is to learn how to put pics on here. I'm gonna talk to my BFF and have her show me. Won't swear I'll get the dog coats on here, but I'm gonna learn this.

Teddie, if you go to the Welcome Wagon section, there are instructions on how to post your pictures there. Hope that helps!

Wow there are some talented "Farmgirls" out there. I love to quilt, embroidier. I have a sewing room set up, when I do not have time t ogo to my sewing room, so will sit and work on a embroidery project. How do you ladies handle this or maybe you do not run into this. I pick a project then soon I move to another. I do not know why I am doing this. Help ladies.

Viola, LOL!! We all do that!!! I think it comes from all the creative things we like to do for starters, then our moods come into play and then finally whatever our spirit wants to do at that particular moment. I must have at least 20 different projects in various stages at any given time. If it's chilly working on a quilt or an afghan is great, however, if it is hot, then maybe some embroidery or darning is in order. Since I sew for a living, people always laugh because I continue with the sewing for myself once I'm done "work" for the day

Joanna:

How did you get into sewing for other people? I would love to get into making baby quilts, bags, purses to make to sell. I have no idea how to ge the word out or does it pay to set up a web site. Telle Me more.

I'm feeling like a big ditz. I keep trying to enter my sewing kit for a beginners badge and I keep ending up with errors I am NOT very computer savvy

I think I just clean house and try to teach myself embroidery...The Stitching Room book is a wonderful teaching guide...almost done with my apron...hand sewing takes a bit more time.

Have a sew happy day everyone

Okay, as promised, here are a couple of pictures of the handbags I did this morning.

Vi, to answer your questions. . . I actually started doing mending for friends and family and it spread from there. Began to charge for my services and when I injured my back ( left me with a partial disability) it became my full time occupation.

Having a website, Etsy, Ebay and running classified ads helps get the word out for sure. I love custom orders too. Also, be sure to let folks know what you don't do. . . for me it's alterations. I always refer them to a local friend who does that.

Drop me an email if you like, I can give you lots of ideas and maybe help get you jump started.

Cute Joanna!!
I've been working on two aprons - I cut two identical ones out so I'm sewing them simultaneously.

Ohhh Amy Grace, I hope you post a picture when your done!!!
I love to see everyone's work. . . not to many post pictures for us to see. Tell me what else you make, do you make quilts, clothes, dishcloths, dolls??

Tomorrow I have 8 handbags to make,2 each of 4 different styles. That should keep me busy for a few hours at least. . . spent the afternoon cutting them all out so I could sit and sew tomorrow.

Joanna, how is the knitting going? Right now I'm knitting a dishcloth. It should be finished by the weekend.
