Has anyone read "The Quilters" Women and Domestic Art, an oral history by Patricia Cooper and Norma Bradley Buferd? It's a wonderful account of women in Texas, their lives from childhood to old age and their quilts. It's full of heartwarming and bittersweet stories of women who led very hard lives with their quilting sometimes being what got them through it all. I first found it years ago at a library and then bought it for myself. I bring it out every now and then to get back to the reality of life and being strong to get through the bad times. It's well worth looking into.

The Quilters has been turned into a play, also. I saw it years ago with my momma at Utah State University. Lovely.

*Annie tries to wave while nursing almost-3-month-old Gavin, keeping one hand on 2-year-old Olga to keep her out of the dog food, easing one foot on the presser foot while she sews some desperately needed summer clothes for the family, and finishing the final touches in the newly painted bathroom (that she did herself).*

Hi Gals! I've been busy!

READ THE "quilters" today, really enjoyed it, so much info on the past, and the strength of the women.
