wow....gal friends I made it fine here to India----it is sizzling.
Tomorrow will be my first venture out ....been adjusting toheat/////talk to you all soon.HOT hot Hot

well I went out today for a while ---the construction here in New Delhi is massive---some people are saying because of the monsoons they will not be done by October 3rd.......I happen to agree--but we will see.
It is hot and humid---pretty bad......but I honestly thought it would be worse. The thing is you must drink alot of water---therefore you have to keep going to the bathroom---yuk......so one can't go too too far.Kind of a no win situation.
And you have to carry water with you---I don't leave home without it. So far it has only poured rain twice---and yes it pours.....once for an hour--probably 3 inches.
Unfortunately here in India the dark skinned pwople are looked down upon----they have whiteners to lighten their skin....sad.
I'm exhausted....more next time.....The heat kind of zaps you.

That's the same in Thailand, the whiter the skin is the better :( Sad indeed, and they also use a LOT of the whitening stuff and they put it in so many cosmetics: powder, soap etc...sad again. I really had to watch what is IN the stuff if I wanted to buy cream or foundation (not that I used any foundation lol...too hot) but wanted to take some home with me because the price was SO good for an expensive brand. BUT because of the whitening I didn't buy any ofcourse, my skin is white enough already ;)

Today I went out and explored a little around my area in Delhi...imagine the very very center of a major city....that's where I live. These huge Commonwealth Games are coming to New Delhi at the very very beginning of October----now just imagine construction work going on ALL over. When I left in March there was alot going on---even right outside our home....THAT is the ONLY place I see done so far and more is being dug up.
I will say though the airport is totally done and it is beautiful....it really really is. Wall to wall carpet, plenty of parking, beautiful murals for Indian man And of Indian woman right outside each bathroom. No lines to go through customs....I mean this airport is grat---not so sure the carpet is prctical.
I think the majority of the population feel the construction willNOT get done---its massive and the monsoons aren't helping. Now if we took a portion of unemployed construction workers from the states to help out....that sure would help.....I like that idea.
For some unbeknown reason I am not eatting meat here I am eating dahl only.....only took 32 years to decide to try it....its lentils;;;not bad.
Getting tired---so I will end.....over and out from New Delhi. Going swimming tomorrow...hooray.

Its an experience---getting through this summer with all the construction going on---its unreal....even in this house there is a lot of construction and painting going on-----woa wee---are we busy here or what/////
having fun getting various things to fufill my end of the barters----all I can say is the BLING----woa....nice aqt very reasonable prices.wow.

today I went to a bakery run by 2 canadians----really good cheats at very reasonable prices.....having company tomorrow so wanted to visit this bakery---but in the future will have them deliver---which they do every Monday. Walking into it it swmelled BAKERY loud and clear----my favorites are the cheese pastry.....but the mini lemon merigue pies looked spectacular.
the driving in India is horrible----I have an excellent driver but sometimes I just look the other way.....I always say god really spares the Indians......there is no road raqge----but you shoud=ld see the driving----unreal.

Yesterday I went to visit a group of women who are deaf.....they make handcrafts, learn beauty parlor skills, learn computer skills.Unfortunately it seems they are not doing well....one major door has closed on them to earn some money---they are feeling bad about that.....they say that they need to have new products....I came with a few new ideas--my mind is creative.....my skills are so -so......its strange how God works---my timing on bringing these ideas could not have been better....now I will be visiting and sharing with them once a week.
Where I go is a nightmare to find---its in a poor, dirty, very hard to find spot.....I go through a few alleys of a major bazaar to get to---me with the poor sense of direction....I just laugh.
The ideas I have given them so far are a calling card folder you carry your cards in, a purse organizer, and a 6 sectional notebook folder that folds up. This is stepping out of their box a little--I must go and make sure they are comfortable doing this....they might have been just polite yesterday.....we'll see.

hello Beverly...... I went to Haryana last year. It was a great trip, I loved the fabrics and the smell of the cooking. I've become a whiz with tumeric and enjoy cooking the foods from there now. Lots of of cumin, fenugeek..... We're big chickpea fans now and I can cook a screaming good vindaloo!
Hope life is treating you well, I don't miss the roads there! Rough, rough, rough!

Jo, if you are ever planning to come this way let me know. New Delhi is a real mess now.....and I do feel sorry for any tourists here...but by December I would hope there would be improvement....thats the weddding season. Are you working with the medical team to help with cleft palates? Get back and let me know..the guest room awaits you.
And laugh,,,,took me 32 years to try dahl----but I love it...love the

Gal Friends,,,,the monsoons are gone---its warm BUT very tolerable. New Delhi has really hustled for these Commonwealth Games to begin....opening is Sunday......I'm happy for India that these games are going to take place. It looked a little questionable because of the lengthy monsoons putting everything behind schedule.
I have my skype figured out----for anyone who might be interested. I will end for now......and heres hoping this week I can figure out putting pictures for you all...you've got to see how green New DElhi is at this time.

All is well here in New Delhi----weather is in the 90's. Starting my pink slipper making to give out to women with. cancer. Also checking out a group who is very involved in global warming---, recycling, etc......so I guess I am staying busy. Happy , but I miss my grand daughter so much....you grand mothers must know what I mean. ttyl

Making them out of various types of pink material---cardboard bottoms thus far----must find rubber for the bottom.
I have a room that I have made into a sewing room---it has blue tables and yellow metal cabinets------its looking good.
