hi gal friends---I am so happy to say that winter is almost over here------does not last long but because of the high ceilings and no central heating the homes are cold.....but I survived. My husband and I went to a different place in India to stay warm. It was nice and warm and relaxing.....but now I am entertaining 2 gals from the states for a very brief time......miss the USA, but am staying here.

Good to hear from you Beverly.

Glad it's warming up for you . . . we have had a lot of snow and there is more to come. But we are still coming out of some very severe drought years and that takes a long time.

Did you ever get the apron I sent you? I keep hoping . . .

Take care!
GOD BLESS!!

Beverly, how do you like India? I admit, I'm fascinated with India, I think it's beautiful and exotic and I hope to go someday, though I'm unsure if it's safe for 2 women tourists to travel there (me and my best friend want to make a trip!). I looked to see if you had other threads, but only see two... how long have you been in New Delhi? where are you originally from? Why the move to India? I'm so interested!

prairie princess, its safe to come over I am just going home to get a different type of visa, but wil be back here in
April. I love India and its aBOUT TO GET VERY VERY HOT. Wyoming is beautiful////////but come to India for a really eye opener. Bring your friend ----my guest room sleeps 2. The time to come would be November- December...... do you like textiles??? I really am not into the historical places-----but I know great places to shop.
I have had 5 people come over and use the guest room....it was fun.
I am married to an Indian//////thats why I am here.
Think about it and let me know sometime......I know how bad the economy is over there/////but travel is a great learning experience of life. Beverly Gill

its different from the states indeed. You have people cooking for you, cleaning for you, driving for you, gardening for you.....so now you have to figure how to fill your time. I volunteer. Also, I do have to supervise some as to what these workers do for me and my husband........they speak some English...so language can get in the way.
I go to the libraries on my street alot. There are alot of cultural events in New Delhi to go to---but truthfully I have not been to many this year.
I love love love material, so I buy and have made Indian clothes...or I barter with you farm gals......I have a great sewing machine and enjoy using it---but I am a very basic sewer. Soon I will buy a dress form----just to have fun with.

The property to this house is huge----I love the gardens....just went and bought 2 carnation plants, 3 geranium plants, and plants for my bamboohanging planters. The yard is exceptional.

I am very interested in helping out 3 groups---2 recycle.....and another is of deaf women who have a beauty school, and also make nice crafts. Anybody out there think of an idea to recycle dvds kindly let me know so I can pass it on.

I will be totally real with you----I used to think India was very poor-----a lot of poverty/ well there is but I am telling you these malls they have here, some of them are drop dead gorgous and expensive. I went to a women's fair the other day....that was so expensive.......saw a purse---a very dressy, class purse going for $500.
The weather here is just warming up now.....I carry water with me OR
mints. I will go swimming tomorrow, for sure.
Ihave a very relaxed life in ways----but not all. My mil is a person who will just zap you most of the time with her disposition....she's my challenge.

Well think that about does it for now.....any ?????

JUst to add on a little more.....New Delhi is getting ready for the Commonwealth Games to be held here in October-----there is so much construction going on here you would not believe it....you just wouldn't.........in the states we would do one street at a time-----no everything is in the process NOW.....makes for challenging walking around.....it will be one muddy mess when the monsoons are here. I hope they get everything done in time for these games---its like a mini Olympics.

ttyl, and I do look forward to coming home to the states soon.

I am now back in the USA...and so happy to be home.....I just have one ?----how do you open canned goods......all you sweet gals who bartered with me---some of the jars I can't open---how how how????
My family really really enjoys everything that was sent....if whoever sent the honey can write me back----my son wants more.

I will be going back to India by April 15th---if my paperwork gets through quickly.

My tulips here in Massachusetts are coming up---makes me smile ear to ear.

Welcome back Beverly!!! I'm glad that you made it back to states safely.

If you can get the 'ring' off try using a can opener (one of the little hand ones that have a pointed end to pry off the lid.) I'm sorry I don't know what they are called. I hope this works :)

Tulips? Oh I wish it weren't snowing right now and that Spring would come!

Glad to see you are home safe. I use the same can opener to open my jars as well. If the ring is stuck, place the jar in a little warm water upsidedown and it will usually loosen the ring.

Blessings, Sheri

Gal friends, it has been raining for a few days with flooding here in Massachusetts....I just thank God our home is safe.....and today is sunny. Need to get the last of the oak leaves bagged up. The crcus and forsythia are starting to bloom....tulips are coming up but no blooms yet....I LOVE spring.

I am getting the jars open---yum yum.....surprized to see we still have canned goods for us to share.

Have a good day.
