I want to make some for dinner tonight and have a little idea of how. My step mom made it years ago. She mashed up avacado, diced onion real fine, and tomato. Then I think she either used mayo or sour cream. Maybe both. And I think a little lemon juice. Salt and pepper. Does anyone know for sure? I'm going to start chopping veggies and will come back and check.
Thanks, Kris

Athentic guacamole doesn't have any sour cream or mayo. When you add that it becomes more of an avocado dip. I like my guacamole with some onion, garlic, lime juice, cilantro and salt. If I want some spice, I'll add a little minced jalapeno. YUM!

I use a shortcut taught to me by a mexican cook. Mash avacado, mix in garlic, lime juice and enough salsa to make a dippable consistency. I actually prefer a small amount of sour cream in it, so I add that as well. Not true guac, but very good! |
