Where is your favorite place to do needlework?
Do you have a favorite chair?
What kind of chair?
I am in need of a chair for my master bed room where I can sit and do needle work
I am tired of sitting on the bed at night.
I love rocking chairs.
However
My problem is my legs are really short
I have yet to find a rocking chair that is really fit to me
I love them
I have several and none of them really fit well
So . what are your favorite places
Do you have a table sitting near by?
do You have special lighting ; like a lamp on a pole etc.
Tell me about your favorite chair and why you like it etc.

I am also short, Sheila, and I looked around for months until I found a rocking recliner that fit me. It is a Lazyboy. I don't currently have the room to set this up, but in ideal conditions I used a table a little taller than your typical end table beside my chair and have an Ott floor lamp. I also placed my chair near windows to get as much natural daylight as I could. Makes it so much easier to see.

I'm really short too so I bought a Lazygirl recliner/rocker. It's made by Lazyboy but is shorter and narrower. I have a side table by where I work that has drawers in it to keep my misc. stuff and a good lamp.

I am tall and love to sit on the sofa. My coffeetable is close by and yes if I do some small stitches/thin yarn work I have my reading lamp behind the sofa.
LOVE rocking chairs too, but don't own one :(

I have a recliner in the living room
It is really uncomfortable for me ; but fits the guys here good lol

Sheila, I can find some the thrift. But at the moment my pocket book doesn't allow me much space lol ;) Maybe someday....

I use to have a rocker recliner that I loved. A large friend of my daughters flopped down in it and it broke. Now I have a recliner at the end of a sectional. I have a table with drawers beside the recliner and a floor lamp behind me. I use to keep my recliner by the southwest window of the room. Will be glad when I can get rid of the sectional and go back to a single rocker recliner. LOL

My chair that I do hand sewing in is a rocker recliner lazyboy. I am tall but short bodied and sometimes it gives me a kreck in my neck. I think they make these chairs with just men in mind. I also have a glider rocker that sets in the sewing room and I will start using it more since I FINALLY got stove # 3 hooked up in this cabin. I have a lamp attached above my head to provide good light in the recliner. My sewing machines chair is an office chair that is well padded so it is really comfortable. I would go to a chair place, set and try out different chairs, tell them you are just looking, find the style that suits you best and keep your eyes peeled at the thrift shops! Good luck!

Sometimes I just sit right at my sewing machine and do handwork there. But, most of the time I'm in my half of a loveseat that has a footrest that comes up and there is a nice, floor lamp that gives me light from behind.
In the summer time . . . I'm on the deck in the wrought iron patio chair with a cushion and my feet propped up on another chair.
Gotta enjoy that Colorado country air in the summer!!

if you're short, and love rockers.....check out antique malls/thrift stores and the like...i'm always seeing old rockers that look like they were made for pigmies (I mean no insult there, so please don't take offense....) its just that it seems like a lot of older furniture was make for smaller stature folks....good luck!

I have wing back chairs in my family room and sewing room. They are very comfy. Good on my back. They are ok for short legs! They were VERY cheap because I got them at the thrift stores. I put covers over the two in the sewing room. One in the family room got recovered, the other is still waiting for me to get around to it. I have a small table in between both sets of chairs with good lighting. I spend most of my time in the family room, there is my "area" of clutter surrounding my space. LOL. I have put my projects in baskets. So when I bring embroidery out, its in one basket. Crocheting in another.
I love having my family spot and my quiet spot! And when the weather is nice, I can take whichever basket onto the porch and sit in the swing or a lawn chair and hang outside.
Oh... and I always have a small take along crochet project for the car. My third spot! =) It's comfy too.

Have you thought of a sewing chair? The one I'm thinking of rocks and is lower to the ground than a regular rocking chair. I prefer the couch or a recliner, as I have long legs and like to put them up when I stitch. Dianne

I sit in my living room on the far right end of the couch. There I have good lighting, a side table, clear view of the television (if I want) and the warmth of the fireplace nearby. Jamie

I sit in either a wing-back chair with low arms so it doesn't get in the way of my elbows or I sit in a little antique rocker I bought and re-caned years ago. If you are short, one of these old wooden rockers might be great for you. At the time I bought it the antique shop called it a "nursery" rocker.

I have a oak rocker that I got when I was pregnant with my first. So it is 16 years old. It has the perfect height arms and fits just right. Also great when I have a sore back. I just have a crochet afghan on it to make it cozy.

Paid $60 for it . it is uncomfortable stitching in though
