I had noticed the other day my Nubian, Sandy's nose looked a little swollen. A little red and about the size of a small marble on her right side. This morning it looks a little bigger. I have no idea what happened. Unless she's been bitten by a spider. I don't see any marks or scratches. It just looks like a Jimmy Durante nose. She seems fine and is eating ok. It looks sort of funny and out of place. Very obvious. Maybe some Neosprin? She's pregnant so I need to watch what I give her.

Has anyone else ever had something like this happen to a goat?

Maybe she's got a sliver? Is there a spot a little more raised than others? (Think a Pimple) you might give it a little 'Squeeeeeze' (trust me, she'll YELL and shoot daggers out of her eyes at you!). If there's something in there, that might help get rid of it. Other than that, I have NO IDEA! Goats are ALWAY'S into things aren't they? Good luck!

Thanks, Tracy. I'm going out in a few minutes to put them back in the barn for the night. I'll chech her again. It's going to be 18 tonight. BBRRRR!

Ew, Tracy. You were right. I was just feeding the goats and noticed Sandy's nose was a little red. So I squeezed it! OMG, it was like a gusher zit! I don't think I'll be able to eat now. Ewww! But the nose is all sunk in now. It should be ok, I hope. It was so disgustingly grose.

Could be an abscess. Goats are notorious for them and some of them can be problematic. I'd watch it and be ready to drain it again if it refills.

Thanks, Melina. I have checked and she seems to be doing fine. It looks about back to normal. Poor girl. After I worked on her for awhile the other girls came over to harrass her. Goats are so ruthless when another one is down. You'd think they'd be a little sympathetic. But not these gals. Bad to the bone.

Yeah, things like that are pretty gross Kris, but they happen. Every now and then I get little slivers of hay stuck in my OWN skin and the same thing tends to happen. It's pretty painful for ME too!!! It only hurts for a minute to get them out (for BOTH of us!), but relief comes quickly after that.... aaahhhh.... My girly has since forgiven me! Hope yours does too! ~~ Tracy
