my latest adventures .. this past weekend .. to see pictures .. just e-mail me that you wanna' be on the KR list!

======================================

well .. i'm just a no-count dawg of a friend! wuz gonna' head for OHIO to help friend Kathy Sugarbucket with a show she was doing this past weekend .. got my days mixed up .. thought it was Wednesday .. when it was Thursday .. that evening .. Kathy called to tell me i had to get up 3 a.m. to meet her by 4 a.m. to head for OHIO .. weeeeeeeeellllllll .. that didn't happen!!!!

so then, i had promised friend Pamela Beehind Thyme that i would come help her with her 'spring fling' celebration at her shoppe on Saturday ..

weeeeeeeeeellllllll .. that, too, didn't happen!

CUZ' .. bright and early friday morning i got an e-mail from friend Sue Tribble (Log House Antiques) .. who has a booth at my mos' favorite BEREA antiques shoppe (SOMETHING OLDE .. 437 Chestnut Street, Berea) .. sayin' she'd brought in a buncha' olde stuff .. the kind i like!

soooooooo .. selfish little friend that i am .. i grabbed some clean scivvies .. my toothbrush, meds, money and makeup .. jumped in the van and headed EAST!

had a fun time as always! stopped here and there on my way .. but with a vengeance to get to BEREA before shop closing time!

arrived about two-ish .. and sue was there .. oh my! what great stuff she does have! she has a quilt .. and the batting is HORSE HAIR!!!! that one isn't up for adoption just yet .. she wants to do a little more research on it .. if anyone knows anything about these .. please let me know and i'll let sue know. AND .. it has YUMMY primitive colors too!!! she also has a mos' magnificent hand-wrought iron hanging candle holder that i 'almost' bought .. but i swanee .. i'm afraid to light up 'ceiling candles' in these cabins for fear they will go up in flames .. but fear not .. i managed to buy lotsa' doo-dahs before leaving TWO HOURS later!

i think my favorite silly little thing i bought was a 'bull nose ring' .. it has sharp prong thingies that would go over his LIPS .. am wondering if this is to keep him from eating when the farmer doesn't want him to .. or to keep him from biting! like HAR-HAR .. a 'biting' bull would be the least of our problems if we caught ourselves in a pasture with one without a strong fence t'wixt and t'ween us!

and did you ever see 'cow-kickers'??

i think these were used to keep the cow
from kicking while you were milking her!

and i got a long handled-MASHER .. probably NOT for potatoes .. but mayhaps for sauerkraut is my guess .. loved the metal band around the olde wood. just think of the history of pieces of olde .. all the hands that have held them .. all the lives these treasures were an important part of.

and found a few olde crocks .. not the real expensive kind .. just
the 'working farmer's crocks' (for making that sauerkraut in!)

got some fun tobacco stick trellises .. and oh gosh .. so much stuff i can't even remember! they've all found their little 'spot' here at the cabins .. and just become part of our home!

two little birds came flying
up outta' that weed in the middle
when i went to take this picture!
me thinks they were 'nesting'
... dirty little birds!

ambled south to Renfro Valley for the night. found myself in Cowboy Heaven! soooooo .. i went to a live 'grande-ole' opry' style country western show. ohhhh .. and you shoulda' seen all the log cabins! didn't get a picture of nary a one .. but WILL return someday and take lots of pics to share!

i had a FRONT ROW .. MIDDLE SEAT!! .. i swear .. if i'da been any closer .. i woulda' had to grab me a fiddle and start pickin' and grinnin'! the show was great fun! and 'oh-lordy-set-me-on-fire' .. i sat down next to one of the handsomest men i've ever laid my eyes upon! (HURRY HOME HANKIE!!!!)

i 'fluffed my hair real full .. sucked my gut in real tight ... put 12 layers of shiny glossy lipstick on and 'posed' my best 'pout' lip-look .. and sashayed into that seat and leant real close to him' ... his wife, sittin' on the t'other side of him .. grabbed a-hold of him and was rubbin' all up and down his arm and leg .. put her arm around him .. and gave him more attention than i bet he's gotten in a long time .. and kept giving me the evil-eye all through the show! the only attention i got from the stage performers was from an 'ole cowpoke who musta' been ninety-some years olde! (i, of course, left alone!)

woulda' taken handsome dude's picture .. but i probably wouldn't have lived to tell the tale!

down the road a-bit .. i found "The-Flea-Fly-Inn-Motel-BarberShop-Saloon-and-Pig-Guttin'-Stockyard".. and spent the night for thirty bucks!

Up bright and early the next morning .. roaming backroads looking for more treasures .. but .. alas and alack .. none really to be found on that route!

Got to miz pamela's place just in time to eat all the leavins' she'd fixed for her visitors!

Came home .. hugged the dawgs and hit that bed like a tonabricks!

Oh my gosh, I can't wait to meet you.I laugh everytime I read anything of yours. You got my sense of humor for sure. If you like music try Miracle Mule. They are homegrown in your area i think. Also you must know Allison Krause, but can be a little slow.

dorothy .. i'm not really 'into' country music .. i just like attending live performances of just about any kind of music (weeeeellll .. except maybe opera .. even that i'd like to see ONE TIME!) good 'ole 1950's rock and roll is my style!

cindy .. life .. it's all in the 'tellin'! bet if we sat down and talked and you told me your stories .. i'd turn you into a firecracker in the tellin'!! xoxo
