Hi all, Shall we share what our new year's resolutions are?
One I have is the same as last year-to do more re-purpose/re-use, instead of buying as much. I have been doing this! I re-use plastic bags of all types, drive less, and look for supplies I already have to make new projects.
I'd like to also try to eat better=less salt, sugar and fat. (love them all!)
How about you

Well, I was talking about this very subject with a friend. I have losts of grandchildren (14) and there will be 15 next Christmas. I have just about had it with the commercialism of Christmas, so my goal is to make all the gifts I give next year. So, please if anyone has any ideas let me know. I am going to start a thread on it to see if anyone has any good ideas. I am sure there will be lots more resolutions to come, but with the Christmas rush just behind me this has been on my mind.
Enjoy the little things, for one day you may look back and realize they were the big things. Robert Brault |

Well....eating better is deffinately a Big one for me too.I love sweets.I want The Lord to make me a better listener. It's so easy to listen and not hear. And I want more patience. So many people need a listening ear and a hug. Such simple things. But without patience, we just go on our merry way and miss out on the Blessings of it all!

I hope to continue on following through on my word and not procrastinate.
Am getting better at it-- which kind of surprizes people when I respond quicker than what they were expecting |

To drink more water & eat less sugar. Just what the doctor said to do for the past few years. But I will always start my day with desert.
Hope all your days are Sunnydays. dianebcarterhotmailcom.blogspot.com |

To make alot of my Christmas gifts to. Like your going to do peapicker. I did some but I need to make more. Most likely to start thinking on it after the new year. Also to make myself to stop and not stayup so late. If it's not done there's always tomorrow. Laurie

1. Get back on my sugar free hypoglycemic diet 2. use my planner and be more deliberate with what I do in my days 3. focus on the best things to do as a mom everyday (some days it's diet, some it's quality time, but just thinking about what I'm doign) 4. being around people and making room for people in my life again
they are lofty goals, but I like to say I'm an idealist with very low expectations, so even if I sorta do these things or at least move do them a little, I'm happy! And so far, my planner is super full, my diet is going strong and I hung out with my kids for a while in stead of doing chores earlier! at least it's a good way to end 2009 so far!

To use my wii fit consistantly again, lose about 10 lbs (from the holidays basically, ha) and walk more - to just get more ACTIVE! I need to and have to!
And to learn how to sew and be artistic and write again ....!

ok , how in the world would you give up chocolate. I want to worry less and live more in the moment. Ride my horses more, walk my dogs more and call my kids more. I also want to clean out the drawers and closets. Ok that's enough for me. LOL

I want to spend more time outdoors, either gardening (planning my very first garden) or just walking, with or without Boxer. I also want to listen more to the sounds around me--not listen to the static in my head, which is very distracting, but really listen so that I can hear what God is saying to me I want to live more simply. Oh, and I want to be a published author. Cindy |

Mine is a big one that I may need help staying on track with girls...I started a blog for 365 days of frugal living, frugal budgeting, frugal cooking...organizing my way through my home and life.(it's far past time) Giving to others. Coupons, cooking and saving, along with helping others do the same. Bartering and cleaning out what I don't need and working on my business. Re-use and recycle.
Living on our own "means" meaning...I have to plan and organize our garden for spring planting to keep us well stocked throughout the winter months...gardening, freezing, canning and using the farm markets that surround us.
Diet....exercise (even though I hate it and I'm not sure why I'm not a size 0 lugging around water from my house to my animals two-three times a day but for sure I'm not...so I must work at this too!)
And of course the #1 spending more time with my family and friends near and far:)Being the very best mom and step mom that I can be and the very best friend that I can be...
peapicker...if you'd like...email me, my mom made all of our Christmas gifts this year and they were awesome!!! I'll forward what she did and her ideas to you if you'd like:)

I just finished, and highly recommend Dave Ramsey's Total Money Makeover. If I resist temptation, I can knock out my debt (except for my house),and start my emergency fund by this time next year.
I already have my cash wallet system set up that I configured myself.
Good luck everyone!!!

I'm on the financial bandwagon. I am so tired of wondering where all my money goes. We really do live frugally, but it's time to step it up a notch. I want to cut 5% off my annual utility bills; save 5% more than I'm already doing; and cut grocery expenses by $25 a month, just for starters. That grocery thing is gonna be really tough, as we've already cut back from around $400 a month to around $165, and that includes paper goods and cleaning supplies. I managed to do that much partially by ditching Wal Mart and heading to the Dollar store. If I actually succeed, the money I save will go towards big projects for the farm in 2011. Oh. I also need to get enough stuff woven for my booth in March. Which means I only have three months left to get things done. Bring out the bullwhips, ladies! I'll need all the encouragement I can get, and I need to be held accountable by as many farm girls as I can!!!!!!!!

Cindy,
I got this cute little book for Christmas called Mitten Strings for God all about being quiet and enjoying silence. It's for moms with kids in the house and stresses the importance of letting your kids have quiet simple free time and not hussling them from one place to the next. My mother in law bought it for me thinking it was a Christian book and it isn't, but it's still darling and you might enjoy it too! I'm really loving reading about someone who is really aware of the noise around them when we have the tv and radio and neighbors and the whir of the heater and the hum of the computers. I always loved when the power went out. Anyways, maybe you can pick it up on amazon for a couple bucks.
God luck to everyone! And try not to stress it when you meet with disspointments along the way, just get back on the bike and try again!

Hi HeatherAnn, I am an apartment Farmgirl too. I'm growing some plants and even a couple veggie plants in my windows. The books sounds great!
