My first attempt at crochet came out all wrong. Real loose at the bottom and real tight at the top, so I decided to try again and this is what I came out with. I gave it to my mom for Christmas.

Thank you ladies!! Mom loves it! I showed my sister first and before I could get out of my mouth it was for mom she was asking if it was for her. Now you know I'm going to have to make another one. LOL

Karen- I used Homespun made by Lion Brand. I found it at Wal-Mart for about $5. I wanted to start with something cheaper, so if I got fed up and quit I wouldn't be out a lot of money. I can't wait to get better so I can splurge and buy some of the yarns from the farmgirls.

Melanie, give yourself an extra pat on the back. Homespun has a great color range, but it can be annoying to work with.

Congratulations Melanie! As you practice your crocheting techniques you will become more efficient. Look how wonderful your scarf looks! Just think of where you will be going with more projects ....

Melanie, Great job on this scarf, and the color is really pretty. I love using homespun because it is available in so many beautiful colors. I've made several prayer shawls using it because it's so soft and cozy. Keep up the good work! Dana

Oh wow, that is so pretty. Your mother is very lucky. I have always wanted to learn how to crochet and maybe you are going to be my inspiration to learn!

You are so right Rosemary! Homespun can be very aggravating to work with!

Pam- I think this time around at trying to learn to crochet was number 4. I actually finished something this time and you can tell what it is!! You should definately give it another go.

Nonsense Channah, I adore the scarf you made for me! It is beautiful! And red is my most favoritest color. I am so happy our weather in IN finally turned cold so I can wear it everyday. If it hadn't been for you and the other ladies encouraging me, I may not have tried again. Thank you!!!

Gorgeous! The colors are amazing. Is the fringe braided, or some kind of crochet stitch?

Nothing fancy, Susan. I just tied a knot at the end of each piece to help keep it from coming unraveled and getting all frizzy.

Very beautiful! I'm working on a custom made dickie for my husband, he said the ones in the stores are to small. Picked up a skein of Homespun by Lion Brand and spent forever trying to find the inside end of the yarn... is there a special trick or do you always have to use the outside strand? I gave up and used the outside strand after an hour. I haven't knit anything in 20 years but had no problem starting right up again. Hubby likes the yarn stash I've aquired since I started to knit and I'm also taking crochet classes at local library. So much fun.

I know I had a buggar of a time finding the inside yarn too. At least I didn't wind up too big of a know when I got to the end of the skein.
