...thinkin'
....I'm thinkin' that maybe "Spring Dolly" might be better due to timing, for me February isn't far off when after the celebration of holidays settle down. (shrugs) ...what do you think... anyone?

Thanks for the input, Farmgirl sisters. I am thinking that since it only takes a few hours to make a doll that someone might want to. Spring is a ways off so swe can wait to see what responses we get after the holidays.
If ya read the whole topic on a swap you will see everything that it takes to be a swap hostess. It's really not hard and very fun.
I wouldn't want to do the round-robin type that I did last time (it was because of an odd number). I missed having the same person to send and receive from, but that's just me. I get confused sometimes but still have fun with it. For the most part all ya need to do is remind people via email and topic post. Once in a while someone will step up and send an extra out when a person gave but didn't receive.

What do ya think of the "Raggedy Ann" style doll swap? There are lots of variations of that type..example: country or primitive. Just an idea.

Hi Linda I hope you are enjoying the doll I sent you. I learned alot from the last doll swap. I don't know that I am the one to be "mommy" for this topic. It sounds interesting. I don't know how to match farmgirls up. Anyway, please sign me up for a spring doll swap.
Blessings, Donna

I would say at least 16 inches...(that's the height that American Girl is) I saw alot of bunny patterns online and some primitive...I'm not crazy about the extreme primitive but I'm ok with the somewhat primitive.
There are some nice fabrics with veggies that would be cute...like gardening...so Spring isn't just about Easter.
Of course the Spring or Easter doll doesn't have to be a bunny. You could discuss what your partner's preference is.
HAPPY SEWING! Kerrieann, are you going to start sewing on one? If you want to get started then let me know so we can start partners even before the sign-ups end.
The dolla are handmade...but last time I made a store bought stuffed craft doll...and crocheted the outfit. I drew the face and shoes on her. Did ya see the pics from the scarecrow swap? There also was a dolly swap without a theme before that. It is always fun!

Linda, Hiya! I am just planning in my head for right now... but will start as soon as I can get back into my craft-room because I am not fast at these stuff. My craft room is being used as a storage room for all the bedroom stuff and hubby's office stuff. We got roofers, framers and construction crews coming all this coming week to repair the hole in our roof caused by a tree falling onto it and caused damage (holes in the roof) from a wind storm before Christmas.

aww, give it a go, Brooke! It will be fun no matter what level of experience. I have never made a doll myself, but I know that I can sew... machine or by hand. So... a dolly will be born soon! If I am tryin... so can you!!!

We love beginners! There are pancake (flat) patterns that are easy to cut and stuff... You can make the main body (except head, or hands and feet) out of the print fabric. Then you can use a fabric or permanent marker to draw the face or embroider it. Sew some buttons or any embellishments on it. I have done embroidered hair, drawn hair or sewn on strips of fabric or yarn to make the hair. Once I made a dolly with an all over print that had flowers with big white spaces between the flowers...I positioned it so the face was drawn on a white space. It turned out great. That style makes a nice pillow. There are also more beginner patterns if ya want to do a simple seperate dress. The fabric stores have panels with everything printed to cut out and stuff...that's also good for beginners. I've seen them for each season or holiday. If ya look up "primitive doll patterns" you will see plenty of ideas.... please join us!
