PrarieHawk, My prayers are coming your way! The way things are today, it's really hard to keep from getting stressed. My hubby and I are having alot of changes taking place right now, and all we can do is pray that the Lord leads us where he wants us to be. I feel that he must have something better ahead for us. Sometimes its hard, but knowing he's there is what will get you there. Please let us know how things are going. When it comes to changing our health needs it does get scary. I'll pray that your job will be secure. Blessings, Brenda |

Well I am back. After taking a long break to work things out, I finally have a few minutes to update everyone. First of all - I want to thank everyone for their prayers and good thoughts. I believe you all helped me thru this mess. Next - I hope everyone else who is facing similar situations remembers that we are all thinking of you and hoping things work out for you. Ok - I still have not found outside work, so I am currently being a stay at home mom. I am getting unemployment so that also helps. Lance found a job at a new flea market/vender mall in a nearby town. It opened in March and he has already been promoted to Assistant Manager. The pay isn't much over minimum, but it's a paycheck. We also have a booth so we get that money too. Since he is working full time, I take Lliam back and forth to Carmel to a school for special needs children. I drive about 220 miles a day, but the school has to reimburse us for the miles since they can't provide transportation. I sold my horse to a family with triplets. He's being ridden almost daily now. I read a great book that just seemed to appear to me one day in the bookstore when I was looking for inspiration. It's called "Possum Living" I don't have it right here in front of me, but I think the author is Dolly Freed. Awesome book.
We are going to put a HUGE garden this year. Biggest one ever. We have 5 horse tank plots. We filled them with empty cans about half way then put soil and compost in. I am just waiting for the rain to stop long enough to dry the ground so we can plant. I fired up a web site callled www.countryfriedacresfarmmarket.com. It's not complete yet, but I am working on it.
The bee's are taking off. We are selling honey and honey products (not listed on the site yet) We are also selling eggs and going in halves on 2 calves. We will raise them and a couple friends will split the cost. I am hoping that after school lets out, I will have a couple hours per day to sew. I have so many ideas and so little time. I seem to be busier now than when I had a "job". lol.
Dawn's Spring Fling was held mother's day weekend and althoug it was cold and rainy - we had fun. We me a lot of great people, traded plants and sold some honey.
I hope to be able to get on here more frequently. I have missed chatting with everyone.
Love and hugs,
Lora #358

Lora, I was so happy to hear that DH is now working. And sounds like a fun one at that. And the bee's, great, great souce of income. Tom has still not found work, but the Lord is getting us through right now. My prayers are with you and your family that things do continue to improve. Hugs, Brenda

Hi,
There are times when our problems can be nearly overwhelming. At times like this, we need to remind ourselves that God works in mysterious ways. Sometimes, a horrible experience is simply God's way of moving us to a better place.
This prayer by Rev. Dr. Reinhold Nieburh may help you.
God, grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, the courage to change the things I can, And the wisdom to know the difference -- Living one day at a time Enjoying one moment at a time Accepting hardships as the pathway to peace; Taking, as He did, this sinful world as it is, Not as I would have it, trusting that He will make all things right If I surrender to His will; That I maybe reasonably happy in this life And supremely happy with Him forever.
Hugs,
Ilene, farmgirl 1547 |

How beautiful and poignant, Ilene. Thank you. Your post was timely in my life and brings me a comfort that can only be from God. I will be relying on this prayer along with my other devotions.
Warmly, Lisa

Lora, I never cease to be amazed at the resilience of people. I am so sorry this happened. So many people are struggling. That knowledge doesn't help per se but there's comfort to be found knowing you are not alone. Honey, eggs, flea market, garden....Amazing how you are making due. I shall be thinking of you and your situation. I am feeling inspired by your ingenuity. Blessings upon you and your family. ~julia

Lora, I hope and pray that you and your husband have by this time found something to get by on. I know that it sounds trite but so often when a door closes in our lives God really does open a window. I will put you in my prayers dear Sister Lora.

This seems devastating, but this happened to me years ago. I cried for 3 weeks, then found the best job I have EVER had that lasted 4 and half years. This happened to my daughter also who had a wonderful job making good money(she's a dietician). She got a new administrator who didn't like her and she ended up resigning. It took about 4 months, but then she found a job making almost double the money she had been making and one year she was i the top 10% in the country and won atrip to Hawaii, a flat screen tv and other wonderful things and this is the best job she's ever had. So hang in there, what seems bad usually isn't. Keep your courage up! |
