Hi, my name is Katee and I live in "suburbia" near Tampa. I grew up on a wheat/soybean farm in southcentral Kansas. I've been married for almost 13 years to my DH, who is also a youth pastor. We are currently renting our home on a 1 acre lot, in a semi-rural setting (for surburban life anyway). Anyway, I work full-time at a school, but love to sew, knit, cook, restore, garden and would love to find more time to do those things. Lately I've been on a "getting back to my roots" kick because I want my 6 y/o daughter to learn all of the wonderful things my mother and grandmothers taught me while I was growing up....thus, how I stumbled across this awesome site!
Any farmgirl chapters in Central Florida? |

Welcome Katee!! I don't know florida well, but I know of at least two florida farmgirls...and I think that JPBluesky (Jeannie) lives in Tampa..I could be wrong. Ellen (byhzgrace) in on Merritt Island. I am glad you found us. I think it is so important to teach our daughters all the important things passed down to us...you are smart to do that. You can do alot on an acre, it will be fun to get to know you!!
Jenny in Utah Inside me there is a skinny woman crying to get out...but I can usually shut her up with cookies http://www.auntjennysworld.blogspot.com/ visit my little online shop at www.auntjenny.etsy.com |

Welcome, Katee! This is jpbluesky, and I live in north Florida almost to Georgia. Aunt Jenny is right, there are several Florida gals on this site; some of them post more than others, but I have seen posts from the Ocala area and further west in the panhandle. Also one is New Port Richey. My daughter's husband is a children's pastor, and I know just what you mean by teaching children how to do the things our moms taught us. So good to have you here! Sounds like you will fit right in!

Hi KATEE Welcome to the farm girl channel, just love it here, check in everyday to see what is going on, always learn something new, get new ideas, and after awhile get to know about the other girls. I was brought up on a farm in Houghton NY. There is a well known Wesleyan college there. Do you know of it? NANCY JO |

Good Morning Katee!
It's great to have you join in. You will love all the gals....so nice and friendly.
After my children were born, I also turned back to my roots. It has been the best 12 years of my life. My girls and I have so much fun tending to our small farm. The farm has been just for our enjoyment but the last couple of years we've been able to have excess and "value added" items.
Have fun and come chat often!
Blessings Catherine

Thanks for the warm welcome. I'm looking forward to having time to explore the archives to see what great info I can glean from you all. Not much time with working full-time, but hopefully I can play here some AND get some motivation to do more "homey" stuff that I want to do. (Thank goodness Spring Break is only 1 1/2 weeks away!)
The end will justify the pain it took to get us here. |

Hello Katee and WELCOME. I'm new here too but have a great time reading and trying things I learn here. I left my roots for diamonds and the fast life, then returned for a short period of time, then left because of single motherhood and now I'm a newlywed with a hubby who encourages my roots and a recent empty nester. My kids are excited to see me back to my roots and talk about bringing their grandchildren (may they all wait a few more years to grace me with grandchildern)to Nana and Papa's house to get back to the simple life. Welcome!
Pray for our troops to come home safe and soon. Enjoying the road to the simple life :>) |

That's cool Betty, I doubt we'll have a real farm any time soon, if ever. But it's really cool to "get back to your roots" one way or another. We live in "suburbia" and it's doubtful we'll be going anywhere for awhile...we're actually working on getting into a "closer" subdivision (smaller yard, bigger house) within the next year. But I definitely plan to start planting/gardening and things like that.
The end will justify the pain it took to get us here. |

| Hi Katee, welcome to the site. I have an eight year old girl along with a five year old son and an eighteen month old daughter. Children love doing the "old fashion stuff". It sure beats video games. Glad you found this site. |
