We are vegetarian so we usually do a squash ravioli with sage butter sauce, a good green salad with goat cheese, stuffed portabello mushoom caps, cranberry sauce, maple glazed brussel sprouts, and a variety of hors deuvres, and apple and pumpkin pie and usually cheesecake.
Yum!

We will have roast local turkey, homemade cornbread stuffing, a fresh and pickled veggie tray, fried okra, yukon gold mashed potatoes (the potatoes are from my neighbor's garden..they brought us a 100 lb bag as a thank you for leaf raking my kids did at their place!)....mixed broccoli and cauliflower, fresh cranberry orange sauce, gravy, baked sweet potatoes, whole wheat rolls and pumpkin pie.So far....could be more if we end up with more than just the six of us. You never know.

Dinner is at my sister's house this year, so she's taking care of most of the menu. Usually we go to my mother-in-laws, since most of my family has passed on. Since my sister decided to pick up the torch recently, I am SO there! I miss my family's get-togethers. So very different from my hubby's family. We're quite a ROWDY bunch, while his family is very mellow.
My contribution will be Maryjane's yam recipe too! along with dinner rolls (I'm toying with the idea of HOMEMADE, but haven't made up my mind yet), drinks, a dessert or two, and a few other little non-edible odds and ends. Glad she's doing it and not me. EASTER is a big enough undertaking for ME each year. At least my house is SPOTLESS for one full day! (usually the day BEFORE!!! LOL!!!)
HAPPY THANKSGIVING LADIES!!! Your menus all sound so YUMMY!!!! ~~~Hugs~~~ Tracy

Stacey, would you share your mashed potatoes with cream cheese recipe?? I do one with leeks and enough butter to kill a person, and it's a hit, but the cream cheese sounds intriguing... :)

No recipe really, my mashed potatoes vary from time to time, but I use yukon gold potatoes, mashed with softened cream cheese (about 4 oz.), butter, sour cream and milk, then chop up some chives or green onion tops and stir into the mix. Season with salt, pepper and garlic salt and you don't need gravy at all!
Lately, I have found the herbed cream cheese is awesome and adds some flavor as well as creaminess when I don't have the chives or green onions. I play around with variations and it always turns out great! ~Stacey

Back to the butter topic- when I give out my from scratch peirogi recipe, I clearly state that after boiling, they should be browned with onions in " enough butter, salt and pepper to kill a mere mortal!!" Glad to know someone else believes in eating enough butter to kill a person! ~ MAry LD Texas |

Ooo Mary, I would love your from scratch peirogi recipe. My great gran made them, but since she passed we've just gotten them from Bobak's mkt in Chicago. Making them would be great!
