in life. Pinkroses post got me thinking.

I started out thinking I WANTED a certain way of life...a certain place to live in with a certain number of kids, a certain lifestyle and whatever else I had defined in that particular dream and I clung to that for many years, THINKING that was the path I was heading down. Then BAM!!! about 3 years ago, after Charlie was born, EVERYTHING changed. We are talking total left-turn, up over the creek and down the backroads type of turn. It took me 2 years to really realize this (I know..I am stubborn ) but after hitting my head against the brick wall 1000x, I finally got it. I now look at where my future is headed and I am awed at how different my life is turning out, yet for the better. I realized my old perception of where I was going was someone's elses or maybe from a point of view that I thought that was all I was capable of. Just my 2 crazy cents for the day!!!

funny how things end up working out, you can think you want your life this certain way, then life throws you for a loop and you end up in a very different place. Just make sure in wherever you life takes you, YOU are happy!

Yup . . . we sorta, kinda "plan" our lives and then it gets turned upside down in big ways.
My hubby and I will celebrate 41 years of marriage this year. We had planned how many kids we would have, what we would do, where we would live, etc., etc.
Well, let me tell you that when our son was born in December 1973 EVERYTHING changed. Jeremy was born with Down Syndrome and, in those days, it was was called "mongolism" and we were advised to put him in an institution. Well, that was never an option and we raised him as much like a "normal" (WHATEVER that is!) kid as we could. He has an older sister, Robin, and it impacted her hugely as well.

As years passed by and we learned more about Jeremy and the BEAUTIFUL person he is I realized more and more that this family NEEDED him!!!!
So many members of our family tend to be critical and perfectionistic and we needed to learn that that is NOT the way to be. We are better, happier, more balanced people because of Jeremy. I, for one, am . . . . HALLELUJAH!!!! . . . a "recovering" perfectionist. Boy, that makes me and everyone around me happier and healthier. It sure was a TURN in the road!! I wouldn't trade Jeremy or the life he has helped us all live for ANYTHING!!!

Jeremy is visiting us today . . . I decided to take his picture so here it is!!!

NO matter how much I wish some things were different
some things never happened etc
I cannot change them.
I can only go forward and not back ward.
I am learning to be content with things the way they are.

When I was young and looked at the neighbors lives I wished I was like So&so, but now I look at my neighbors and I thank God for the life I have.

My oldest G/son (he's 10 now)was born blind (optic nerves never developed), and is also autistic. He is my middle son's only child (he and Roger's mom divorced 7 years ago, but remained best friends). We/she had so many people say horrible things about Alison and Roger, did she do drugs, drink, smoke, eat junk food, live in a dirty house, etc, etc, etc... (none was true), Ali and my middle son lived here during their pregnacy and birth of their son. According to the specialist that were later brought into the picture, this was just a fluke, a cruel trick by mother nature, nothing done or did to cause any of this, but.... people still had to have their cruel say. It is unbelieveable that in this day and age, people are still so cruel and ignorant , adults more than children. I have a cousin who has downs, she is 2 years older than me ( I'm 52 ), and the cruelty towards her and my Aunt and Uncle who kept her home and raised her just like their other children is UNBELIEVABLE. Tracy now lives with her older sisiter and her family, my Aunt has passed and my Uncle does not have the health and lives with another child. I guess my point is, I think school should maybe educate kids about differant disabilitys/medical conditions so hopefully the cruelty can be stopped? No one knows what life is going to bring them, we can only predicte our futures a fraction, i.e., become a docter, lawyer, police officer, etc, but what will happen in 5 minutes or in 5 years, only God knows........

I am a believer that God gives us only what we can handel, I also believe that God gives special children to very special people. I have worked well over 30 years taking care of special needs people, I loved most of them but hated all the paper work the job required. People surprise me with their stupid remarks. I was comming home from school(a long time ago)on the bus and a bigger boy started picking on my brother who has facial twiches. I started beating on the kid and we were both tossed off the bus. I lived about a mile away, Steve lived 25 miles away. (that would never happen today but should)So a few weeks pasted and I was allowed back on the bus. Then some other kid started picking on my brother but before I could get to the back of the bus my brother said Oh you don't like it when I do this and deliberatly started making faces at the kid and said I don't like it either but I got used to it so you better too. He taught me a lot that day. Jeremy looks like a very happy & polite gentleman, give him a hug from me.

Hope all your days are Sunnydays.
