A man who is immature, has a temper, has a "mean mouth", way out of whack priorities . . . he REALLY, REALLY needs prayer.
My daughter REALLY REALLY needs prayer as she tries to keep the peace, do what the Holy Spirit desires for her to do and not get defeated.

You are right in that he needs counseling . . . if HE would just acknowledge that as well and agree to it. His pride and arrogance are such an obstacle!!
So-o-o-o, I'm praying that he will "crack" enough to recognize that.

CJ, You know I will be praying for your DD and Sil, my ex was just like that, he was never physically abusive but verbal was another thing I never did anything right and no matter what he did was correct. He sounds just like my ex so I know where your DD is, she is own my heart and in my prayers. I am so thankful that God can change people! Blessings,Karen

Please continue them . . . this is not a "quick fix" . . . he has a lot of changes to make but, as of yet, is not willing to acknowledge that HE has some problems.
Pray for me and my husband for wisdom and direction in our role.

Much love and many prayers for all 4 of you.....maybe through your daughter being so committed, and your SIL's love for his wife, they can work this out. Sometimes it is a very hard nut to crack, maybe SIL needs to take a step back and realize just what he is doing. Again, love and prayers ceejay~~

Have seen some good things lately . . . hopefully they will continue.
He is also struggling because of tight finances, less work for him and nervousness about that.

We all know that only God can change a heart. And sometimes it takes hitting rock bottom before you are willing to look up. Financial difficulty can lead to that helpless, frustrated feeling which adds to the already stressed out nerves in other areas of life. This year there are even more people facing this hard reality, and knowing how bad the economy can make us feel there is no hope. Only God change the heart and give direction and hope for the future even in this down economy. We are not without hope, where there is life there is always hope.

CeeJay I've been praying for you and your family. I hope your son-in-law learns to control his temper if not I hope your daughter will be safe and if need be strong enough to leave if he can't change.
I spent 4 years with my first husband, if I was on a hospital run and knew I was going to be late I would call and let him know but he would call my job every 15 minutes asking where I was. I took a lot of physical & mental abuse from him and I still planned on spending my life that way until Aug.10th when I saw him push our 3 yr old down because he asked for a bite of his daddys sub. The next day was my birthday and I filed for a divorce. It almost cost me my life but I had to keep my boys safe. I hope this is not the case with your daughter, but she need to be safe first and worry about him second.

So sorry, ceejay. I looked at the beginning date on your post and it's nearly three months ago. This is a ton of stress day after day for you and your daughter. And it doesn't sound like your son in law is interested in being helped or helping himself. Maybe your daughter needs to save herself at this point and let go. Has he ever been through any kind of counseling? Does he not see the harm he's causing?

Some men tend to take out their stress on the one's who least deserve it. My prayers to you Ceejay. It is never easy when our daughters are involved. I don't know the details, but it sounds like he needs a swift kick in the head! Maybe a wake up call is in order. Can she leave for awhile?
