| What is clean to you? My mother ALWAYS used Pine-Sol. I can't stand that smell, to her it wasn't clean without it. I use Clorox a lot. I also like the original Lysol in the brown bottle. What is clean to you? You step back and take in a deep breath and say, "That's clean!" |

This is bad, Pine-sol is the only thing that really smells clean to me. I HATE the smell of bleach though that might be why i like pine-sol

I agree with the lemons... I also think there is nothing that says clean like laundry that has been dried outside in the spring breeze...I love that smell!!!

My curtains blowing in the wind on a warm summer day. Also I bet the order I have comming from our Susan the Soap Maven, I understand that her farmgirl collection is loved by many. going to give her laundry products a try TOO.

| I cannot stand the smell of bleach. It smells horrible!!! I can handle the smell of pine-sol but in small doses. Vinegar smells clean to me as well as lemon or orange. I'm really liking this organic orange cleaner I have been using. I use ammonia on very rare occasions too, that smells clean to me. |

I like to use bleach in the kitchen and bath, but what about those new lemon and orange pine-sols? They smell great! Also when you mop they hold all the dirt on the bottom. Don't use it a lot but I like it. Another neat thing about pine-sol is that the old fashioned kind will take gum out of anything! Carpet, hair, cloth, and I mean anything, just soak it and it rubs right off. The new kind that makes the dirt settle doesn't work.
I also like to use vinegar, and I love the way sheets smell when they come off the line, nothing smells cleaner than that! |

For you gals that like pinesol have you ever tried Dr. Bronners SalSuds? It has that same smell & is more earth friendly.

I also love the other Dr. B products. Right now I'm crazy about the peppermint!! January it was the lavender..........
I get them thru my local co-op. Alot of co-ops also have these as refills you bring back your bottle and get it refilled from there big jugs to save $$ and the environment!!

I'm with everyone else, Pine-sol is very clean-smelling to me.
Also lemons...I only use lemon Sunlight to wash my dishes and lemon laundry detergent.

Vinegar has become my "clean." i also love citrus and peppermint. i find bleach painful but i do use it for certain things (white clothes and occassionally the toilet if i'm feeling especially germ phobic).

My hubby threw a bottle of bleach into the cart last week. It's the first bottle of bleach I've had here in probably ten years. He had something he wanted to clean and insisted only bleach would do. I told him to use white vinegar, and he did and it worked, but he still wanted a bottle of bleach. Whatever; it's his house too.
I remember the Dr Bronner's soaps! OneGod!OneGod!!OneGod!!! all over the label. Yes, I'd read that tiny writing; it was fun! I liked the almond just because it was fragrant, but that's not the smell of clean for me. It's throwing open the windows when the outside temp is in the mid to upper sixties and airing out everything. It's that smell on clean laundry dried outside. It's the smell of a child's hair that's been shampooed and dried. For me, PineSol doesn't do it; I suppose because my mom never used it.
Speaking of PineSol, a friend of mine told me a funny story once. She said that if you want your house to smell clean, take a damp rag with a bit of PineSol on it and swab out the corners of your kitchen floor. Then the whole place smells better, and everyone thinks you washed the floor! She's one of those people who would clean the clean, if you know what I mean; normal people wouldn't see any dirt, but she does. Me, I'm out with the horses, and cleaning just the corners wouldn't fool anyone.

Clean to me is the smell of orange, fresh laundry off the line, an aired out house with a gentel breeze blowing through, and (yes really) a clean barn, with just the smell of cows and hay. (notice I said clean barn.)
If it's not illegal, unsafe, or immoral, why not try anything once? Who knows? You may come back for a second helping! |

I've heard that Bleach is not good for a septic system. It kills the good bacteria.
Pine Sol vapors are dangerous to cats and babies.  It also leaves behind a trail wherever you use it. Bleach breaks down naturally into salt and water.
I recently bought some Ultra Palmolive Aroma Therapy Lavendar & Ylang Ylang and I really love the smell. I hate any kind of fake lemon or orange smell, but the real thing is wonderful.
I love the smell of clean laundry. I am addicted to the way Bounce fabric sheets smell. I don't care what kind of chemicals are in them, I just love the smell.
I like the way some furniture polishes smell up the house and leave evidence that I actually cleaned that day.

For me clean smells are laundry dried in the fresh air, lemon and ginger smells and vingar means clean in our house because that's what we use. Also sage because I burn a little sage after I clean.

Bleach that is diluted in water should not harm your septic system. My Dad (waste water treatment specialist) says that bleach is actually pretty safe if used diluted because depending on how many gallons of septic water you have, it wouldn't be strong enough to do much. It also breaks down very fast. So unless your pouring cups and cups of it everyday, you shouldn't notice any problems.

oohh how could i forget the smell of lavender..not changing my mind just adding that to my list of things that smell clean. I have a lavender sachte that was made at the local artisan guild that I keep in my "brief case", so all my paper smell like lavender.

(Good to know that you can use diluted bleach in a septic system as we have one! LOL! It was just a week ago that I had heard that it was bad for it, thanks for clearing that one up!)
Wanted to mention another clean smell---soak a cotton ball in your favorite essential oil and run over it with the vacuum. While you vacuum you will smell that fragrance. I use Eucalyptus oil.

| I used to cheat some days when I spent the day quilting or painting instead of cleaning. Right before my husband would come home (exhusband now), I would pour some Pine-sol down the kitchen drain and he came in thinking I had been cleaning all day! Try that when your mother-in-law is on the way over! |

The pine-sol in the drain cracks me up! I laugh now, but you can bet there'll be a day in the future when I'm doing something VERY similar....

Ever since I was little, the smell of Pledge (wood table cleaner stuff) meant we were cleaning the whole house for company. Usually it was a family Birthday party. So the smell of Pledge not only is clean to me, it also makes me think of parties! (I wouldn't go smelling the can or anything though...it's not THAT good)
Other than that, I would say clean laundry and any cleaning product. No vinegar, bleach or ammonia though. Never liked them. |
